Help with Pac-man yellow color info
« on: March 22, 2016, 11:00:14 PM »
Hi everyone, I'm converting a Galaxian midway to a Pac-man (I'm restoring another Galaxian too), and I don't have any reference for the type of yellow except for CPO, I have an original Pac-man panel for it with his original cpo, the yellow in the cpo is the same used in cabinet? and the red and blue?, can someone point me some other reference?

Thanks

Ricky

Depends a lot on where you live. Color systems in the US are different from the EU but even so, we've learned color codes are not all that perfect.

Best is to have some sample (from a CPO or something) to match it to stuff you can find in a shop or have a paint mixed up to that sample. Some have used color scanners for that purpose but I (and the guys helping me at the paint stores) always used eye match in day and artificial light...works best.

Hi, thanks for answer, I live in Spain and yesterday I tried matching colors with a color chart and none matched  :(

If you could confirm that the colors in the cpo matched the cabinet, I'll try with it in other stores.

Thanks, Ricky

I go to a professional automotive paint shop. Not a body shop, but where they sell paint. Here they have a scanner for measuring the original paint. So if you have a controle panel, they they can scan it and make a matching paint. You can then choose a pray can or 2k paint for a paint gun.
Maybe you can google "automotive paint scanning" to find a shop in your neighborhood.

Unfortunately there isn't anything like that here, I live in a small town, but I keep looking this week.

Thanks

Check Ully's reply #27 here https://www.dragonslairfans.com/smfor/index.php?topic=1311.15
 ;)

I'm sorry but I miss your reply and it was the perfect solution, a code that I could match here :'( , I painted the machine some days ago and I think the color I choosed it's not so bad it's the RAL 1021, I'll post pictures soon to show you the result.

Thanks
Ricardo

Sorry for the delay  :)

the color in the picture is different from reality, this was taken with the paint still fresh

This was a quick test to check everything was ok

More coming

By the way, is there some place to get stencils here in Europe or the only option is TOG?

Thanks, Ricky
