Star Wars pcb issue

I just tested my spare Star Wars pcb bought from Archer Mclean, looks like it has some issues.
You can start a game, hear the sounds, but the whole screen is oriented to the left and very dissorted.
My first thought was to ask, if somebody can repair it, but the double post + repair costs would be pretty high.
It would be great, if somebody can guide me what to check, maybe I can repair it myself.
If I wont succeed, it will be for sale.

Mmmm, 16 high tone beeps means a lot is OK.....but you can't see a lot...do you have another board set that does work OK with that monitor ? so we can rule out the monitor at least ?

The cab works fine with another pcb, I made a 2 hour test last weekend.

I created a 'similar' issue on a tempest board after switching from viewing the game on a scope to putting it back on with a 6100. Monitor. One of the 'centering' VR's on the board was turned to far one way that the monitor couldn't cope and the image folded over and was squashed to one side. I'd have a quick check of those to rule it out.

What is VR and where is it located?

VR stands for Voltage Regulator and that means.....pots.

Bad terminology on my behalf, should have said potentiometer's. 'Variable Resistors' (VR) only have two legs, which have a changeable overall resistance, pots have three legs and the 'wiper' leg is what makes the resistance different between wiper and an outer leg.

Blue square blocks with cross adjusters in the photo below (my Tempest board). If yours are original they may be black and circular.

I tried to set the pots marked as "xctr" and "yctr" on the bottom right side (yellow and blue), but not too much changed, seems like the pic is not just on the left side, but it is dissorted also.Tried to set all the other pots then without any success.

It doesn't look too legible at all. Since you have a spare, swap the AVG custom on the AVG board and eliminate that. Mine blew and I got similar symptoms. If that's not the cause, you'll need to be able to get a scope on the board to debug further.

Looks like either a bad AVG chip or one of the DACs has failed.
