Midway Space Invaders Cocktail version
« on: June 30, 2015, 12:15:03 PM »
RESTORATION FOLLOWS

I have a couple of Midway Space invaders cocktails to restore and I have some questions for you.

1)
Both of them need a new CP or, at least a new CPO. Do you have any suggestion? I already bought this
http://www.arcadeoverlays.com/space-invaders-cocktail-control-panel-overlay-long-set/

BUT:

- actually it is similar but not the same (different pictures, fonts, dimensions); really hand made.
- vinyl is strong but completely gray and not with aluminium effect

2)
one of these cocktails need new joysticks. do you know where to buy them or if replicas exist?

3)
do you have a main board to sell me :D I've a sound board but not the main.

thank you

I think I'll try to clean the aluminium and then print the CPO an a transparent film. It can be a good experiment for future restorations...

Let's start with the resto...

No roadtrip for this cocktails, they arrived by Currier...

2 Space Invaders and one Space Invaders deluxe

SID is not mine and one of the 2 SI has been converted and has additional holes on the CP. So I focused on my SI.

It worked for a couple of days, I repaired the board (I opened a thread about that) but after one day it stopped again...

Monitor is in good conditions so I have no issues about it now

CONTROL PANELS

Control panels were not so in bad conditions but I decided anyway to find a solution in order to have a complete overlay.

I made some experiments and I decided to use (for the 1st time) decals. I bought decal paper on ebay, then I printed on it the graphic parts and I sprayed  with liquid plastic.

then I cut all parts, 30 seconds in water and I applied patiently all components.

After that I waited everything was dry and I sprayed again with plastic. THis is the result. Opinions?
