ostrich under the snow .
« on: February 25, 2015, 12:59:38 PM »
Hi guys Long time I did not post a road trip . This weekend I was in the alpes to see my family . It was also the occasion to make a road trip for a friend that live in south of france .

So in  this road trip i made about 1000 km with a lot of traffic jam under the snow and some crazy road in the mountain.

This time my RT mate will be my wife and it is her first time . She did not knew what she was getting too and for sure she will remember it .  ;D

Itinerary is
chalon sur saone -> Cluses to see my grand parents
Cluses -> Bourg st maurice to get some spare part for a  GORF.

The itinary on the map look weird as I got some issue with the snow on the road . Some road in the mountain were blocked and I had to change my way .

After 3 hours and a half of drive instead of 2 I arrived at Bourg st Maurice to get the gorf's parts.

As i was 90 minutes late I did not took many pictures.

Now lets get back to Albertville to pick up a cab this time

We load the cab in the car and 5 minutes later we are on the road again as I promised to my wife that we will go skiiing . (waf point +1 )  :spaceace:

The beast is pretty heavy and I will have to unload it as my grandparents place since the road is difficult with the snow .

My grand parents saw the cab and were desperate (face palm time ) .

1 hours later we are in the mountain for this view .

After all that job I need some rest and deserve a nice meal.

The next day I have to load  the cab in the trunk again but alone . Damit this cab is damm heavy for an upright .

As you see we had to play tetris a little bit to fit eerything in it .

Back at home I put the cab between the kitchen and the WC as I do not have (yet) anymore place free ;D (waf - 1 )

likely for me I will deliver the cab in Avignon (south of france ) next weekend . (Waf +1) .

Great pics....Nice, you've got the original control panel and joysticks :)

Original hardware still inside ?

I don't find them to be very heavy, they are rather small for uprights. Then again I'm used to Lunar Lander etc.

Anyway, plenty of room in the Oktavia ;)

Am i the only one who had to to read the beer bottle label twice?

Those landscape pics look like some scenes from the Skyrim game. I love it!
Is the european Joust so much smaller or are you just one big dude?  :D
Nice score!

Lol
The beer  is a local one .
I am 1.85 m and indeed the cab look small but i was really surprised that she was that heavy for this size .
It made me remember the first timz i lifted an atari cocktqil ;D .

Yes the European Joust and Robotron are quite a bit smaller.

You can compare it by looking at the side-art, they used the same (sized) stencils.

The only serious drawback that that cab has is that the speaker is on the top. It makes it sound really weird. First time I noticed that when I was playing one in a building with a shed shaped roof.....the sound was "beamed" up and reflected back by the angled side of the roof.....made it sound like it came from somewhere else.

I am a sucker for keeping things original but I am very tempted to find a solution for it.

The problem is that the "overhang" of the marquee areas is also very small.....but I really want to aim the sound over the screen area somehow...
