Robotron transformer question
« on: January 25, 2015, 09:33:54 PM »
I want to wire a Robotron to 220v but I don't get how to do it. Could anybody tell me what I should do?

The number on the transformer reads 5610-09658-00.

Here are some pictures:

On the other side are some outputs that are going to a 15 pin connector. I already checked the manual but to be honest I just don't get it. ::)

Reading "Note 3"  i understand that you need a jumper wire.

I think its something simular as the jumper wire used in Atari games to switch the input voltage.

I've searched the pictures from my Robotron but there's none with the transformer. I can take a look this evening if mine has the same setup.

You have the US version or EU?

Like Hawkeye ;D said, it's the US version. It would be very nice, Luigi. :)

PS: thanks Etienne, I'll have another look when I'm at the gameroom again. :)

If i look at the schematics, you need to remove the current jumper wires, and make a new jumper wire;

(Note 3; "Only the one shown with a dashed line is connected for 220 V.A.C. operation.")

remove Jumper wires that bridge connections 2 & 6 and connections 4 & 5 on the 12 pin connector.
Install a Jumper wire to bridge connections 2 & 5  on this plug
that will connect transformer connections 3 to 5

Then you need to change the fuse and varistor. (note #1 & #2)
Also it might be worth to investigate note #5 because the voltage is no longer 220 Volts since many years but 230 Volts.

Is there a known replacement for the 5017-09063 varistor? The only source I could find is a pinball parts shop, but it's out of stock there.

i dont know about that, but i know you can test it by removing the varistor.

if you fire it up connected, this will happen  ;D
