From Computer Space to Retro Space to Computer Space Meeting'...

30th of December 08' ...

It starts with the original Computer Space flyer from 1971...

As an homage to the video arcade era, and especially to honor the design of the first ever arcade cabinet, Martijn created "Retro Space"...

...and as a huge fan of Computer Space, Marijn and his friend Lara (pictured on the Retro Space flyer) decided to come from Netherlands  to Belgium in order to see, smell & play a real Computer Space  ;)

But before the 'Computer Space experience', let's invite them into the Nuno's Lair *reloaded* version  ;D

Everybody loves Donkey Kong :

One of the Lara's favorite games is ...Mappy. Hopefully, my Xevious cab is equipped with the Namco Classic Collection Volume 1 board that includes ...Mappy  :D

Martijn is trying the original Star Wars from 1983...

...before trying the 1998 version of the game

Drink, food, and Space Invaders part II.. welcome to the 'cocktail' playing  8)

The *Starblade* experience  8)

Some pictures taken by Martijn

'The King, the Kong ...and the Ugly'

Have a look at the *AMAZING* quality of his pictures  :o I need the same camera than you, Martijn   :o :-* :-* :-*

Click on the picture for the high resolution version ... Impressive !!!

OK, back in the living room, where the Computer Space is... before plugging the game, I pray the god of Arcade : "please keep that Computer Alive my Lord..."  ;)

Power on... It's still alive... OK Martijn, have fun

Yes, it's a little bit noisy  ;D

Because Lara (the model for the Retro Space flyer) is here, impossible to skip this picture

I was a great afternoon. I'm very happy to meet you both. I really hope you've enjoyed this meeting too  :)

You'll be welcome here anytime  :-* :-* :-*

~Enjoy~

the pictures are lovely.

Martijn used a Nikon D700 for theses pictures  :-* :-* :-* But too expensive for me  :'(

Do you think a Nikon D90 would be good enough to take similar pictures, by example this one

Argh... I love that picture :-* :-* :-*

Most important for the imagequality might be the 28mm manual focus Nikkor prime I used. That lens is incredible.

Handheld or tripod? If handheld what was the shutter speed? Difficult to get good low light shots

Good quality for such a high ISO. So at 1/30th of sec I assume handheld.

Yeah, it has auto-iso, so it picks 1/30th for hand-held capability, and then decides 2200 iso is good with that. The other one with Bruno is 3200 iso.

I'm doing all the pictures with a poor Canon Ixus v3... since 8 years from now (99,9% of all the pictures here are done with it)

I'm happy with it, it's a very small model, and it's great during road trip for example, but I think it's time for a new one.

A friend on mine has a D90 Nikon. I'll try it... and I hope the low light shots will be good, like the D700 from Blanka  ::) :P

I've got a letter today...

This one is coming from Netherlands? Strange... I'm expecting a lot of packages from everywhere... but nothing special from Netherlands?
No sender name on it? Strange... let's open it ...

...what's this ::)

Heeyyyy

Wooww I didn't expect that  :) :) :) What a good surprise... Real pictures on A4 gloss paper... the result is STUNNING !!!   :-* :-* :-*

Impossible to show you how good it looks in real... the colors are ... a little bit 'metal', 'fluorescent', 'like a cartoon'... Woowww  :-* :-* :-*

I'll have to frame them... and put them inside my game room? Sounds funny isn't it? Game room pictures inside the game room...  ;D

Anyway.........A HUGE
THANK YOU

for that gift Marijn 'Blanka'  :-* :-* :-*
