Turbo Out Run upright & cockpit

18th october 2005

Well, a nice deal... this time : 2 arcade games, the same games, but in different version :

Sega's Turbo Out Run cockpit & upright version

... Well, this is a uncommon roadtrip   :P

Because I didn't participate  :P  :P  :P

This roadtrip is done by ... my wife & my mother with his husband    :P   :!:  :!:  :!:

Ok, here's the upright version :

And the cockipt version :

... Nice, a guy is cleaning the cockpit

Ok, Freddy ( my mother's husband ) will discover the two 'items' I've asked him to bring me back

... my mother is watching...

The loading :

Ok, it's time to give the €€€

I've no more empty space at home right now, and the gaming room is not finished yet, so ...  the two games is guarded by Sam, friend of mine -of course- & great arcade game lover too  8)

This is Sam  :D  :

Well, not a good Out Run player  :P  :P  :P  :

See an out run inside an out run

Now, I'm trying the thing

Ok, it's running fine... Let's check the other one :

Yeeeaaawww :D

Sam's turn...

Turbo Out Run ManiaaaaaAAAAA

The cockpit has a great shape, isn't it ?

... also like the Red Ferrari

the 'identity cart' for the cockpit'  :D

... and the SN for the upright :

Hey, cool, that's why the Bass was so great when playing the cockpit version... a subwoofer !

Inside the cockpit :

... it looks like a lot of humans played that game

and inside the upright, yeah  :) The originalgame & monitor  manual are there  8)

A lot of dust, as usual...

Ok, the next step is to bring them back at home, once the gaming room will be ready

Hi DarthNuno,

Thx. :)

Let's try it in english...   , I remember back in the days playing OutRun on the upright version, then OutRun on my Game Gear, I spend a lot of time on that game. Outrun was one of my favorites "racing game". 8)

The Playstation 2, "Sega Agees 2500 Series vol. 13 - Outrun" is very nice too, it's a kind of "remasterised" version of OutRun and it incluedes the original version too... Sega Agees 2500 Series vol. 13 - Outrun was only released in Japan, there is no PAL version of this game. And here we go with some pictures:
-> http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/driving/segaagesoutrun/screenindex.html
-> http://www.gamekult.com/tout/jeux/fiches/J000060185.html

OutRun 2 for Xbox is awesome too... very very nice, like the arcade version, with little games...
-> http://www.gamekult.com/tout/jeux/fiches/J000021946_screenshots.html

I have the chance to have both consoles, PS2 & Xbox to play Outrun...

See yaa!

Thanks for these informations Codex  :)

This vol.13 sounds very interessting, even if I can play Out Run with Mame
Anyway I'm curious to play the Enhanced version of Out Run    :P

I guess I'll put an Xbox in the Turbo OutRun cockipt, in order to try Out Run II  8)

Hi,

De rien. ;)

Do you have an Xbox too?! Sounds interesting... You can do a lot with, run some emus (MameOx, Kawa-X), run movies (.avi, .mpeg, .divx etc...) with Xbmc and of course play some cool arcade games...

My Turbo Out Run pcb is now... dead  :?

...and I don't like to see an unused cab inside my lair  :?

So, let's bring back from death that cockpit cab'

A racing cab' has analog controls... let's give a try to the ULTIMARC's A-PAC :

OK, it's very easy  :P

Now I need an ULTIMARC's Arcade VGA 2, in order to use a computer on a real arcade monitor or TV...

Here's some test with my old Commodore Amiga Monitor :

Let's remove the dead Turbo Out Run pcb...

...and check If there's place enough to put PC hardware inside...

It's fine ! Now let's test on the original arcade monitor...

OK, great

Now, the most boring part... check all the wires... and name them  :?

A view of a pot' :

...what a mess ...

Ok, now that cab can play original Out Run & Turbo Out Run... but what about the latest Out Run released in Arcade ? Yes I'm talking about ... OUT RUN 2      8)  8)  8)

It should be possible because the engine of this cab is now... a computer
Ok, but for running the latest SEGA driving game, I really need a more powerfull processor... let's try an AMD Athlon 2,4GHz processor...

By the way, this is the first time i'm doing some works on that cockpit... and I never cleaned it    Ok, let's do that now :

...once the monitor is removed, I have now access to pedals pots :

...and I'll be able to clean the screen too...

Done  :P  :P  :P  Now... it's playing time  :P  :P  :P

So, that cab play now :

Out Run, Turbo Out Run... and Out Run 2006 : Coast to Coast  :P  :P  :P

But, better than words, check out this video :

 :P  :P  :P

Like the work on the Turbo Cockpit

I've just won one of these, is it easy to get the monitor section off and the roof part, I want to try and get it in my Ford S-Max to save hiring a van, I think with those parts off I would fit

Cheers

Hi Bods,

Congrats for your new cab
Removing the top  is easy, the monitor too... but  it can take some times (maybe 20 minutes if I remember well)

Have fun ... and don't forget to post the roadtrip

Nothing special... just water + soap, and finishing with clear water  :P
