My first Stars Spalsh
« on: September 28, 2014, 08:27:15 PM »
Like I told I'm quite fresh news in the Arcade World.
All started this year in Jen when I come to know that the amusement machine of my infancy was "on the market".
Few month later, I had understood more knowledge about the cabs...and I slowly falling in love for Zaccaria.
I belive I never play on this cabs when I was child (my attentions was on the game inside, not for the cab) ..but 30 years later (now) I'm happy to discover this cabs produced in "my" '80 years.

On April I found an advertisement for a "stars spash" at about 200 Km far away from me.

Sorry to say: I have no documentation about this my first ZZZ road trip... about 2 hours of car to go and the same to came back.

During the pick up operation I discover this date on the bottom: (probably the production date?) 20.11.81

It's a generic cab, I know. Inside I found:
Brick: CEC 212
Power: Midway
Monitor: Hantarex 20"

..it's was cabled just for a Sega 16 pinout (Inside It's have the Shinobi's PCB).

..the control panel seems original (only 1 joy, and only 3 botton... quite rare in Italy! Usually Arcade renter's added a second joy more for upgrade to news game!)

..the woods structure in very good condition! (no vandalize act like intentionally sratch or lighter burning on side art...very rare in Italy!)
..all this data tell me this cab have always a good recovery in this long 30 years...and probably not too much employment.

Ciao Giulio. I'm sharing here, hoping in same new internetional friendship.

This was the conditions (read: PROBLEM)  that I have notice om the cab:

- monitor with strong dominant in blue color and red only in one corner (degauss?)
- Midway power: tested + 7v (insted of +5v)...12v it's okey (11.5 max..but this is not a problem I think)
- no "token dispensers" on the back of coin door.

Same consideration about the cab... it's a generic cab:

A- Cardboard is totally black (no theme "to support" in the cardboard)

B- Monitor was originally horizontal (wood bracket are tight...if they was for a vertical one I aspect it more larger)..not too much games was horizontal in 1981 I think... let me know what kind of game was horizontal and from midway..

Yeah, we have really good experiences with Ansaldo-Breda....is that the same factory we just sent our hi-speed Fyra trains back to ? :D

By the way, congrats on the cab and welcome here :)

Funny, that machine was made one day after I became 14 years old :)

Thanks 42! So: when arrive your birthday will be the same for my Cab..good reminder!

Update Cab's situation:

A- I'm not able to fix by myself th monitor problem. So in and of August I brought it to a repaiman that someone hint to me.
I'm just back home it same days ago...I'll try soon (this or next week) to re-attach all to test it!

B- Then I have the metal part to clean rust remove

C- About the cabinet (if someone can help me about):

I don't konw jet what exactly do:

1. Jamma (I need a second power supply for -5v)  or
2. dedicate to....what? So, for this questioon, I quote myself above:

B- Monitor was originally horizontal (wood bracket are tight...if they was for a vertical one I aspect it more larger)..not too much games was horizontal in 1981 I think... let me know what kind of game was horizontal and from midway..

Thanks

This configuration I've never seen before, with Midway internals. If only we knew what game it was originally...
