Thanks for all the nice comments guys !

Ully, after so many tries to do it completely on my own (and with some programs) I decided to go for a Gastic Bypass Surgery.

Basically this means my stomach has been parted up in two sections, the smallest is the one where my food ends after I eat it. They also "reconnect" some of the bowels (is that the right word ?) to that smaller section of the stomach.

The effect is:
1) I can eat only very limited quantities at once (it's the size of en egg)
2) because the fluids that help in digestion still go through the other part of the stomach and enters the bowels about 1 meter later than normal, digestion is also less. So, from what I eat, less calories/energy is absorbed by the body. This does mean that I will have to take some extra vitamins for the rest of my life.

See for an explanation here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gastric_bypass

Of course, any surgery has some risk, but the figures are pretty simple: the risk of living on like I did was tens times higher. And I didn't want to be like that anymore.

I had regret for the first 24 hours after the surgery, but none after that, not a second ! :)

It does mean that I can eat only in very small quantities now but I am already fully used to that and I have no problems with that at all. I actually enjoy food more now and like healthier stuff much better than bad stuff.

The surgery was on december 10 last year.

Wow man!
Thats one transformation there.
Aside from the obvious change in the before and after picture it seems you transferred that weight into pure bad-ass-ness :D

Well Done Andre! Well done!

You look very good.

I was able to recover 40kg back in 2010....took off 4 months from work for hardcore indoor cycling/spinning and changing food. No junk food any more.

Expect some funny situations when you meet people after months. One of my clients didn't recognized me way back then, and commended/lauded on the last visit of my associate who helped a lot (which was actually me half a year back). She left and while I talked later to the director in his office, she came back after 30 minutes, opened the door and shouted: Oh dear, Mr.Knagge -it's you!  ::)

Again. Well done. Looking forward to meet you (and the others) on Eurocade.
