« on: April 30, 2014, 11:37:26 AM »

Looks like there is a back-lit "roll" that could Be turned by hand on the side, wonder what that did....select a game ?

This one seems to be older:

The console still features the woodgrain while the one on your pic is already the all black "Darth Vader" version. Plus the overall design of that kiosk is more in line with the (silver style) design Atari used at that time, like the Atari name on the top with "2600" at the side of it.

Oh yeah, definitely forgot about that one. Like the other one too because it's more of an arcade cab style. Yeah I noticed the "Darth Vader" too :)

This one seems to be older:

The ColecoVision had a similar styled kiosk. I assume the Atari 2600 one is older though...
No arcade cab(s) yet, but happy owner of 2 Colecovisions, 2 Amigas and a pc running Mame.

Those Coleco guys CHEATED !! Look at those nice joysticks on the kiosk ! MILES from the wacky real controllers you got with the system....

OK the Atari kiosks didn't have the original controllers either but at least they are pretty similar to what you got with the system.... ;D

Although the Coleco was released late 1982 I'm pretty sure the Atari one is older (at least earlier 1982). It has the 4 switcher woodgrain so maybe there was even an older kiosk for the 6 switcher ?

Judging the "architecture" of the cab: the first Atari looks the oldest. I don't think it is a black version, it looks black due to the photography. It also has a B&W CRT, the other two big Colour TV's.

I'm  100% sure it's a Darth Vader because it also has the differnet logo on the front which is also on the opposite side.

Woody 4 switcher:

Darth Vader:

And I'm not all that sure that is a BW TV, the picture is too blurry to see that and you don't know if there was any color used in that certain image on the screen. pretty sure kiosks would never have BW TVs.
