I don't get it...please tell me more, André :)

So he organized those vehicles? And what was the surprise?

My apologies if I do not see the obvious

LOL, yup.

Of course the class was taken for a ride through Ridderkerk and when they returned they were singing "a 10 for Mark" ......and well, the teacher couldn't really do much else then give him that 10 (grades are giving at a 0 to 10 scale here, 10 is highest :)

Thorsten the GMC and Jeep _were_ the surprise  ;D

Kids at school here have to give presentations (twice a year) about a subject they can choose themselves. They have to stand before class and talk about the subject in a structured way (introduction, why did I choose this subject, etc.etc.) These days they of course use a computer with the class' Smartboard to show a Keynote or Power Point presentation to go with the story. They often also show things that have to do with the subject and Mark brought a couple of model cars and a remote controlled tank he got recently.

Mark is heavily into WW2 and military. Quite incidentally, my wife's cousin collects these WW2 vehicles. He owns a Jeep, three GMC trucks and a half-track.
We have been touring with them already last year at veteran's day in The Hague.

Anyway, Mark asked if he would come to show the GMC during the presentation.  They drove up in front of the classroom windows right at the end of the presentation and the kids went nuts. As a bonus they had also brought the Jeep (in the back of the truck :))

Yup, he actually is allowed to drive it there, but if the distance is too long he transports it on a "deep loader ", not sure if that is the right word.

The tracks wear out pretty quickly on any hard surface road for which they weren't meant of course...

He only still has the current track set that is under the vehicle and 1 spare set and after those are worn out it's game over. The last set he bought from Israel where these half-tracks were still in use for a long time.

Here's a pic of it during veteran's day last year....this was close to the King and prime minister and defense minister....

Oh, the lady in the back is not a veteran ;);)

You ever had the boys up to Arnem /Oostebruke Andre ?  That is one kick ass parade that they do to remember Operation Market Garden, not to mention the massed pipes and drums   Would dearly love to make it up ther one of these years.
