Roadtrip: Space Invaders cocktail
« on: April 09, 2014, 10:39:05 AM »
Last week I received some info from a  friend of mine, that there is a SI Midway cocktail for sale just 200 km far from Budapest.
Talked to the seller a couple of times and made the deal. :D
Started around 7 in the morning before the usual city traffic jam

Heading to lake Balaton

Some water

A Super Loco from the 1920'S

Former russian military base

The ancient vulcano of Badacsony, we call these "witness mountains".

Reached city limits of Sümeg, ruled by the Space Invaders :D

The sellers house saw better days :-\

And here is the fully working beauty :D

We found a burned in name Anton Clementsen Chicago on the bottom of the cab, I made some research and this guy made radio and amusement game cabinets from the 1920's, really interesting. :o

We spent just 5 minutes here and went to a local shop for some breakfast.
The "super"market ;D

This is a spirit from mostly synthetic stuff, you just have to pull out the top and drink it from the plastic cup, brilliant heh. ;D

We bought some food and stopped in the middle of nowhere on the road with the scents of spring around us

On the way back, there was nothing special, just some birds on the wire

We arrived back to Budapest at noon, it was just a 5 hours long roadtrip.
Some pics from the cab

Player 1 joystick is not original, if anybody has a spare, please let me know ;)

Thanks for the pics.

Budapest is still in my "european cities to visit" list...

There should be no "joystick" - just a white pushbutton like the fire button.

Yes we want to go there too ! ;)

No Joystick ? just one button ? OK, so how do you move in two directions that way ?  ;D

This is the original "joystick"....I'd say it's more like a turning knob...

Yeah it is some kinda knob, I have it on the other side, looks like this (photo from klov):

If I won't find an original (which has a good chance), I will replace that metal lever with something like this:

This guy was really poor, I guess most of this stuff is from Austria, this village is close to the austrian border, they often go there and take what other people throw out or buy it for peanuts.
The Space Invaders is also from Austria, it runs with 5 schilling coins, there was 2 of them in the coin box. :D
