[Superully's Restoration] Ice Cold Beer anyone?
« on: March 17, 2014, 09:18:13 PM »

while waiting for some parts for my Bubble Bobble Project to arrive, i thought i could tackle a slightly different restoration project which is not going to take forever and which brings a lot of fun - especially at parties! ladies and gentlemen: ice cold beer anyone?

cabinet structure is ok, control panel definitely not original! :D

base is pretty rough, must have been dragged around a lot! on the left you can see the plate which reveals the "winning lottery tickets"

left side

as you can see, the beer lady aka waitress has some nasty scratches from being in service for too long. therefore, she will be replaced with an identical clone 8)

a look inside at the back of the playfield

inside's pretty clean, on the right the ticket dispenser!

that's it for now, more over the next couple of days!!!
all i need is ... PONG - and a select few others: TOUCH ME, DRAGON'S LAIR, JOUST, ROBOTRON, MR DO, SAN FRANCISCO RUSH THE ROCK!!!

good luck on your resto.

Traded mine away a few months back.

Note: The original "ropes" in the back will easily fell off over time. We replaced it with some material I can't recall right now. If you need the info, let me know and I will search through my messages/mails...

These machines are great fun
My friend has one and we took it up to replay last year
Although it wasn't very reliable

it's been more than a week without a real update, so let me show you some photos :D

as i've said before, the base is really rough and needs a lot of bondoing

no wonder, leg levelers and their respective mounting plates are in real need of repair!

corners are either worn ...

... or have been cut off entirely with black paint applied to hide the nasty operation :-\

of course, i can't leave it like that! let's bring out the saw

saw so far, saw so good!

new piece fitted and "bondoed" in place

cab is now ready for a fresh coat of vinyl and sideart ... stay tuned!
all i need is ... PONG - and a select few others: TOUCH ME, DRAGON'S LAIR, JOUST, ROBOTRON, MR DO, SAN FRANCISCO RUSH THE ROCK!!!

before applying the new vinyl and sidearts, the old damaged stuff has to go!

good-bye, german beer lady

amongst the different woodgrains i ordered, there was one which is a pretty good match to the original stuff. can you guess which one it is? :P

roll over, beethoven (note that the woodgrain looks way more reddish than it is in reality because of the flash)

new silkscreened artwork on top

removing the protective paper

welcome back, german beer lady *PROST*

all i need is ... PONG - and a select few others: TOUCH ME, DRAGON'S LAIR, JOUST, ROBOTRON, MR DO, SAN FRANCISCO RUSH THE ROCK!!!

i've just realised i'm way behind with this resto thread, so let me give you an update! remember, the control panel was NOT original

found a replacement in the usa, here are the pics the seller sent me

joysticks and buttons removed, let's have a closer look at its condition

as you can see, the condition is NOT acceptable! apart from cracks, there are also deep cigarette burns

nevertheless, i was able to remove the old overlay in one piece for the guys who want to stay all original and love battle marks. so if anyone wants to have it, it's yours for "only" 50 bucks - special offer!!! :P 8)

i on the other hand cleaned up the sticks and buttons, had the metal powder-coated and fitted a brand-new reproduction overlay

looking somewhat nicer, don't you think? :)

all i need is ... PONG - and a select few others: TOUCH ME, DRAGON'S LAIR, JOUST, ROBOTRON, MR DO, SAN FRANCISCO RUSH THE ROCK!!!
