WTB: working Sega Mega-tech
« on: January 03, 2014, 12:11:18 PM »
Guys,

I really want to buy a Sega Mega-Tech and am having a hard time locating one for sale in the UK.
If you know of one that works that is up for sale please let me know! I'm based in the South East but will get it transported from anywhere on the UK mainland.

Thanks!

I've just managed to purchase two yesterday. They aren't in a good condition (yet). Haven't had the time to check them either so in about a week I should have more info.
Would you also need games? If so, let me know which, i have about 12 cardridges.

Hey that's good news!

My main stipulation is that I need one that works ;) I'm no good at repairing PCBs or monitors. I'm ok with replacing buttons and artwork and doing some minor repairs though - so cosmetic damage isn't too much of a problem.

I've got no games at the moment so i'll take what I can :) I really want Golden Axe if it's there.

Let me know when you have some more info about condition - we can talk further then!
Cheers... you've made my day!
Regards

Hey lukeearle, thanks for looking that cab up for me.
Haven't seen one appear since I'd started my search.
Not sure about the temperamental top monitor ;)

Either way, I think I'd rather trade in the forums - much better to keep these things in the community!
Looking forward to talking more with jinxz!

Just saw it and remembered this thread. On this listing there is a reserve, which concerns me as I wouldnt think it would be worth more the £150 in its current condition. Hope it all goes well! :)

You're right, a 99p start and an unspecified reserve price is a recipe for disaster!
I certainly wouldn't pay top dollar for a cab with an intermittent top monitor.

Like I said, I'll continue with forumites. It's funny that I've not seen any for a while and then 3 come along at once though! I've fired off a string of questions to the eBayer so I can share replies here - but rest assured I'm still doing business with jinxz first.

I've put the cab in storage and will check it out next week. I did take the cartridges home with, checked them and I do have a Golden Axe. So even if the cab turns out to be a let-down I wouldn't mind selling you the cardridge.
I'll keep you posted.

Here are some pictures (don't mind the Dutch talk) of what i pulled from the warehouse yesterday:

Nice haul! No pics of the Mega-techs... but I have a feeling they're just same-old same-old in comparison to the other stuff ;)

So... you selling the Juke box / Wurlitzer?  :D

For those who are interested in the eBay auction - I got this feedback from the seller:

- I don't mind waiting 30 days for collection [due to where I live]
- [concerning why it's on eBay and not a forum] I put this up on eBay first just to see how much interest I could gather on here before posting on the forums like JAMMA+ and UK-VAC.
- I can't tell you the reserve as that wouldn't be fair on other bidders hoping to buy, I would advise to bid what you would be willing to pay :)
- Unfortunately, I have never seen the [top] screen working for switching games, only occasionally during game play - And I couldn't tell you what type of fault it is as I haven't investigated it for myself. I'm sure if there is a enthusiast buyer it would be easily fixed, could even fix itself after a clean out.

What do you guys think?

They regularly popped up on marktplaats until about a year ago. I think about 3 years ago I bought a perfectly working Hantrex monitor which the guy had removed from one of those cabs! He said he had tried to sell it on marktplaats but got no interest. So he converted it to a MAME thing with LCD and he scored crazy money for it.........
