OK I played the Last of us for a couple of hours yesterday evening.
Wanna know my thoughts ?:
1) load the game, I need an update. What ? I had already updated the system. No...I guess the games get updated too. This takes about...5 minutes. Cool. This really does remind me of loading Blue Max from my Atari 1010 cassette tape drive !
2) I get CRAZY from the controls. If I want to look up, you have to move the right stick up, but I don't know but if I have a analogue stick like that I would want to use it like a plane, so pull back on the stick to go up. All the other controls are completely puzzling me too. I guess I'm just too old or too stupid for this.
3) What am I playing ? I feel like this is the xth generation of Dragon's lair. I am watching a movie, and every now and then I'm supposed to fuck around with the controls, the damn screen even TELLS you what you need to do......have people become so deteriorated ?? Have our brains become SO squashed
??
4) all of a sudden, there is actually some SKILL required when trying to shoot a couple of bad guys....the controls are so maddening though, that I can't hit anything. These thumbsticks just SUCK.
Conclusion:
Great graphics, great sound, game SUCKS.
Can I return this shit ? Or are there actually any modern games that require some skill ?
Listen, I'm not 100% against modern games, I play COD2 and 4 regularly on my Mac and those are great games with logical controls and they require some SKILLLLLLL.
Either both these games (Uncharted 3 seems a lot like above, an interactive movie, only this time you have to climb and jump walls ALL the time which already gets boring after 30 minutes)
Fuck it, I'm going to dig up my SNES and play the shit out of Super Mario World !
