UV picture printing on the back of acryl glass
« on: July 14, 2013, 01:11:14 AM »
I was looking on some photo printing websites (Kruidvat, Hema, AH) because I want to print a poster and I read about the possibility of printing a photo on the back of an acryl sheet by using some kind of UV printing technique (see for instance here: http://www.ah.nl/fotoservice/aan-de-muur/foto-achter-acrylglas.html)

I am wondering how this would work out when you print a (good quality) bezel image that way, would you end up with a great bezel to use in a cabinet? And if this is possible, how do you then handle the center of the bezel, which has to remain clear obviously?

I have a SMB and a Dr. Mario Vector file and it would be great if I could end up with a nice bezel this way.

30€ is worth a try i would say..

thats little investment to find out if this is sufficient.

the transparent part should be ok, if its also transparent on your file, then it wont print any ink there.

It would be a nice solution but I don't think they handle transparency.
What makes me think that is that they mention that it's first printed on real photographic paper.
Also on their example, the white dress prints white and not transparent.
Maybe just ask them if its possible to leave some transparent areas to be 100% sure.

Yep, I just send them a question about this.

About the UV printing technique, it is not first printed on photo paper, but instead it is printed directly ´in acryglas´, as the mention it:

Een dikke laag glanzend acryl maakt van elke foto een museumstuk. Door een nieuwe druk techniek is het mogelijk om een professionele uitstraling en kleuren te krijgen wanneer jouw foto direct in het Acrylglas gedrukt wordt. Hierdoor blijft je herinnering altijd goed ook als je deze buiten hangt.

And with marquees or CPO´s you don´t have an issue with transparent spots, because they usually don´t have them.  :)

Imagine, 6 or so rare marquees back printed on one sheet of vinyl (cost efficient)!! Oeps, did I just give away  a new business model?

we should give it a try. :)
Looking for Dragons Lair 1 or 2, Space Ace, Double Dragon, Robotron and yeah... a Shinobi would be cool, too!
