Emulation in a Daytona Cab
« on: May 13, 2013, 03:55:20 PM »
Hey guys,

Quick question. What would you say if I took a Daytona(2, maybe, I can't remember) and put a pc in it.

The main board has some problems and has been repaired and it can no longer be afforded to repair.

Just want to get your guys opinions.

When my Daytonas were broken I thought about emulation, too. Daytona 1 or 2 makes a major difference though since you need different emulators AND they run on different systems. Anyway. Let's talk Daytona 1. That is model2 hardware. The Emulator runs very good and force feedback is supportet for a few games. Fotunately Daytona is one of them :) Alle you need is this: http://www.gamoover.net/tuto/l2m2-interfacer-un-ffb-et-volant-sega-model-12-avec-un-pc-ou-une-playstation-23

I build one of that devices and it seems to work fine. I didn't keep it because I decided to let my boards repair by Ken Westerfield (who did a perfect job!!). Daytona 2 (which is model3) is a whole different story. The emulator doesn't support ff yet (as far as I know).

Hi PRC,

Thanks for responding. I've been fiddling with model 2&3 emulation and it seems possible to do both with a front-end, atomic fe, but I don't know what's happening with the cab yet, it's not actually mine, it's a friend of mine's. if I was going to do it though ffb is a must, thanks for the link, which is hard to read(damn google translate) but I get the idea of it, but I don't like having to have a board printed and all, I thought I could do something similar to DarthNuno's conversion and just hack the motor in the new wheel.

Anyway, thanks for your input.

Does anybody have any expireiences/suggestions with hooking up a daytona machine to a PC?
