Some advice for sideart and T-mold?
« on: May 05, 2013, 10:00:53 PM »
Ok, my newly bought Donkey Kong need a new sideart sticker on one side. Where do I buy the best for this? Same question goes for T-mold for both DK and DK j.r.

Sorry if it has been posted already.

Thanks

Hi, congrats on your nice catch! :)
I bought my sideart at www.quarterarcade.com.
Great quality silk screened art.

You can get T-molding at a lot of places, but www.chompingquarters.com sells the Nintendo "True flat" reproduction T-molding.
So that would probably be te best choice. Got 3 rolls myself last week, haven't installed it yet. But it looks good.

i totally agree with the t-molding, but if you want accurate high-quality sideart, you'll have to wait a little while longer. just a few weeks ago, someone pointed out on klov that the original run of the dk repro artwork has flaws. i have checked mine in the meantime and it suffers the same errors. rich has said he's going to make new vectors from NOS artwork and silkscreen a completely new run, but this might take a while. so either you wait or you get the old stuff from quarterarcade or whoever else sells the same stuff from the first run. i'm thinking about selling mine, but i'm not 100% sure yet!
all i need is ... PONG - and a select few others: TOUCH ME, DRAGON'S LAIR, JOUST, ROBOTRON, MR DO, SAN FRANCISCO RUSH THE ROCK!!!

afaik, everything's from the same run, but you should check your stuff closely, there are some nice comparison shots in the thread i linked to above!

by the way guys... is it possible to buy just one side? my dk jr is only missing one. :D
Looking for Dragons Lair 1 or 2, Space Ace, Double Dragon, Robotron and yeah... a Shinobi would be cool, too!

I bet you'll get color differences etc.

Very interesting thread you linked to Ully and it is CLEAR from that thread that Arcadeshop's is NOT the same as Quarterarcade's/Mike's stuff and the Arcadeshop is a lot better.

If you can't wait, I'd go for AS, else you will have to wait what Rich will do. It is not his habit to release artwork that is already available from other sources and sometimes procjects just take a lot of time to materialze (SW cokpit artwork f.i) which is only natural and not a complaint but something you have to think about if you decide to wait.

I was just going to write that arcadeshop seems to have the "right" one. I will order from there. But is the.site.active? Not been updated since 2012 but maybe.that doesnt mean its down?

Any place in Europe who have these?

Thanks for the answers btw..

No you won't get these in Europe.

Arcadeshop is very active but communications is not always the best. Calling is the best option but I have always been succesful with e-mails so far. However, you need a credit card and you need to pass him that info somehow.....calling is the safest.
I "cut up" my CC number into three parts and sent it in 3 different e-mails.....yes not completely safe either, and a lot of hassle....

Also, he will always declare full value on the little green customs form so either keep your value as low as possible or accept a delay because of customs and having to pay import duties and/or VAT.....

Not sure if this is the same all over Europe but in The Netherlands it's like this:

Up to €22 : No import duties, No tax
Between €22 and €150 : Only tax, no import duties
Above €150: Tax and import duties.

Above the duties/tax you pay some "handling fee" to the company that takes care of the customs declaration (usuall the Post company in your country).

Damn level42! You post the answers before my questions.. :D

I was just going to ask about the value declaration. This is really bad that he put full value. Its same for Sweden. And the fuzz about creditcard didnt sound good either but would be doable.

Guess I'll wait for someone else..
