"The Invaders" in the house ...
« on: April 19, 2013, 09:00:43 PM »
Today, I've finally found the time to pick up the "The Invaders" upright I bought on Ebay a few weeks ago. Another collector, who bought some jukeboxes off the same seller, was kind enough to bring it with him half way, so all it took was a two hour one way drive.

Seems I was lucky this time, with the machine being in quite good cosmetical condition, and also complete and original on the inside (with the exception of a small device hooked to the speaker, powering two red light bulbs with every sound ... but thats easily removed).

Obviously, it will still require lots of work, but I am quite satisfied for now :)

Martin

Thanks. On the downside, the monitor is dead, and the power supply is in urgent need of a rebuild. Does anyone out there have a copy of the manual and/or schematics for me?

As always, thanks for your help!

Already made some progress today. Replacing all the badly corroded fuse holders fixed my power problems. Further on, I realised that the fuse on the monitor chassis was also dead, and someone had tried to replace it with tin foil. Put in a new fuse there as well, and the monitor came back to live (white out though, but still ..).

A closer investigation of the game PCB also showed that the prev. owner had inserted the daughter board the wrong way. Fixed that, and straightened and cleaned all its pins in that process. Now the game was playing blindly, with only the monotone invaders sound to be heard. Taking another look at the daughter board, I found a loose jumper wire - now all the sounds are back, but still no picture.

Lots of fun, but I fear I am stuck now without the schematics for the chassis and, ideally, also the PCB.
