GALAGA - Scratch Built Replica
« on: May 26, 2008, 02:38:43 PM »
Hi to all,

after this project https://www.dragonslairfans.com/smfor/index.php?topic=324.0

and after having seen this Darthnuno great project: https://www.dragonslairfans.com/smfor/index.php?topic=314.0 and after having seen a thousand times

Wargames  :-* :-* :P

I decided to start this new project: GALAGA 'Scratch built Replica'  :spaceace:  :spaceace: I can do it  8) I hope  :P

Ok . I have everything.... almost ... I'm waiting for one original Galaga joystick from US

Remember I live in Italy and it's impossible to find a dedicated Galaga cab

I still need these 3 measures to begin - sorry Nuno - after these no more stress - I promise

but Jakobud plans have many imperfections ....  :?

Thanks for the help!!!

See you

Yeeeees !!! This project gonna rock !!! A full 'scratch built replica'   :-* :-* :-*

You must be at 200% on the 'Arcade Motivation' level  :D So I presume Galaga is your favorite game for choosing it ?

As I can see, you seems to work inside your house (I see tiled floor) ?  :D

Many thanks for sharing your progress on this project here my friend  :-*

...and don't hesitate to ask me if you need some measures  ;)

We stay tuned of course  :-* :-* :-*  :spaceace:

OK regarding the first picture, yes... it's centered  ;)

I have the marquee retainer still in place, but I can guess 10 cm for your arrow number 2 and approx number 1... but just centered it   ;)
It also centered on the width, so you should have approx 18,2c m from both side of the speaker

For the second picture, the middle of the hole is at :

10,5 cm from the back
13 cm from the side
diameter is approx 3 cm

!! your second picture is confusing !! Just rotate it from 180°, and think that the player is in front  ;) Maybe do a picture from the top  ;)

Yes Nuno you're right - I imagined the cab from above and from behind  ???

Thanks for your precious help as always  :-* :-*
Without your help was impossible to continue with this project, too many wrong measures in internet  :-\

I hope that it can be a guide for other people

Tomorrow the work continue (coin door position - marquee zone and speaker zone  :spaceace:)

Wow! Your Galaga is looking fantastic! Great job, let's see more!
Are those L-brackets strong enough to hold the cabinet together? Are you using glue as well?

Very impressive  :-*

Same question than Amadama...

Are those L-brackets strong enough to hold the cabinet together? Are you using glue as well?

...because when the monitor will be in place and everything else, the cab' will be much heavy. Not a big problem if the cab stay in the same location, but if you plan to move it sometime, you'll have to do it carefully  :-\
