Amazing Boulderdash for the Atari 2600
« on: September 28, 2012, 12:29:22 AM »
Isn't it amazing what some homebrew programmers manage to pour out of a 1976 developed console:

For those who don't know Boulderdash, it was a brilliant game released for the Atari 8 bit homecomputers first and was later converted to other systems. Here's how the original looks:

WOW  :o

I even can't believe that the music is coming out of a 2600. Never knew it was able to do that.

Awesome....an all time classic game on an all time classic console! :)

That was very good, but really challenging game after a few levels, we used to play it a lot in C64 also. :D

It sounds to me like they are playing back the sampled original music somehow. athey could never have done that in the past because of memory limits, but now it's relatively easy to do with about anything that can produce sound.

Still amazing indeed.

Awesome port of the game!
If it was released at the time, it would be a fantastic hit for sure! I don't remember games with four direction scrooling like that by the way on 2600...
I used to play BD on my beloved Amstrad CPC by way, one of my favorite games at the time!
