Project: Atari System 1
« on: April 10, 2008, 07:10:44 AM »
Well I have 'just' started my Atari System 1 project.

At this stage I don't know what game I am going to do first, either Peter Pack Rat or Marble Madness (Temple of Doom later)
I have all the parts needed for either game (even have an original Peter Pack Rat joystick)

The cabinet is a little different than the original (back/top) as I want to mount a NEON light behind it and the monitor I have will fit.

Anyway, I'll post more photo's as I do more work on it.

Here is the cutout:

Here is what sideart I am going to use (thanks to Minwah)

Anyway, let me know what you think  :)

This should look really good when you are done. Don;t forget to route for the t-molding before you get any further!
I like the sideart!

Yep, already routed for the t-moulding. Oh the sideart you see has just been applied in photoshop and I do have the original vectored files  :)

I have decided to build 2 cabs so I can do both Marble Madness and Peter Pack Rat  ;D

Cool, I really love Marble Madness!
I can't wait to see your progress Dexter!
(How about a Road Runner too? One of my favorite games)

I wasn't a huge fan of Road Runner, but I'll do Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (I have the artwork for it)

I have a cockpit Road Blaster and I'd like a Paperboy cab one day

Paperboy is a lot of fun. Temple of Doom too. Good luck with the build!

Wooooowwww Dexter :o Great job !!!

Like Amadama, I would say 'Marble Madness'  :-* :-* :-*

... But Temple of Doom is also an Atari system one game to own  ::) :P

Now that you've done the shape for this first system one cab', I'm sure you'll be able to built a second one very fast  ;) 8)

Many thanks for updating your project here by the way  :-*

Well looks like this project is going to be larger than expected  ;D

I'm now going to put 3 of these cabs together  :D I am getting more MDF delivered and the control panels have been ordered.

Peter Pack Rat first, then Marble Madness and finally Temple of Doom, I've made enough room in my computer room to accommodate the 3 cabs (mrs not to happy)
I should have the cabs built over the next 2 or so weeks (and painted) and I'll post photo's as I do more work on them.

To bad no one has reproduced the Temple of Doom CPO (I have the marquee) so I have to get it printed (mamemarquees.com ???)

Here is the CPO artwork that I've fixed up

Might need a little more work, but looking ok so far  ;D

Anyway, more photo's as it happens

Impressive ! Is it a vector file or is it a scan flat file ?

It's a .psd file, to hard to turn into a vector.

I can't even upload to localarcade, and had to ask one of the admins to do it.

I have hundreds of files on my PC that I need to upload (a lot of them have not seen the light of day)

I've printed this onto Photo paper and the quality is awesome.

Hey Bruno,

The cab is finished (being made, but no artwork yet) all my games are in storage for now till the new games room is finished at the new house

Early in the new year you'll see the games in their new home
