Super hang on logo vectorizing
« on: March 23, 2012, 10:19:33 AM »
hi guys,
im in the process of re-drawing all the stickers from my Super Hang On cabinet. ;D

I allready have done severals brand logos (RK Takasago,Hu-Tech,CIBIE,etc) and i'm starting the Super Hang On logo.
So i carefully tear off the sticker, making sure that i didnt twist it.
Scant it, but in Illustator when i put my line marks i can see that the original drawing isn't parallel.

check it:

It's particulary visible on the half of the "Super"..

So my 2 questions are:
-Do you think i should re-do the same mistake or should i straight up the logo?

-Do you think i can have the same dot frames effect if i print it on a digital printer or an offset?

My tought is that the decals was made using silkscreen technic, can some of you (etienne perhaps ;)) give me is light on this?

Thank you for reading.

PS: Of course, as soon as i finish them, i will send them to zorg to put on vectorlib. :P

I think the "halftone" will come out fine if you got a decent printer.

Here a fast trick to create the halftones in perspective  ;)

http://illustrationinfo.com/?p=46

About the correction, that depends on the location of the decal i think.

I can imagine that when it is pasted to a "curved" surface it was ment to compensate that.

If its is pasted on a flat surface, i would "repair" theyre mistake.

Another factor to help your decision can be the size of the decal.
I mean if its a small sticker, you will not notice the "repair" but you will feel better in your head ;)

Very nice job !

I did cleaned the file a bit (removed unneccesary things)  and it reduced the file size from 11Mb to 3,5 Mb  ;)

presvectorSHangOnmodified.pdf

Again, Well done !  :spaceace:

EDIT:
File removed, avaiable at vectorlib soon  ;)

Thanks man, it's very kind! :)

How did you shrink the file this much? It's not just removing the scan isn't it?

I have removed everything that was not visible in the final product.

You had a big part of halftoning above the artboard, and that is alot of circles  ;)

will you do the corrections yourself on your file, an can i erase this that i put up my server ?

Hi guys,
I m back on my project but i ve to make several mods on my sticker.

A bit of blabla first.
In fact i have 2 SHO cabinet a white, and a red one.
I was always wondering if the red one is a sega or a bootleg. I cant find pics of other red SHO.
Also the PCB is very different that the one on the white cab (an original sega)
,the artwork are slightly different too. Esp the SHO sticker, the one i'm re-drawing atm.

The dark red on the back of the letter is not present on the bootleg's sticker.

The other thing that is tickling me is the small offset of colour.
See

At beginning i was thinking that was a mistake of the printer, but it's on both stickers (boot and ori), so i start thinking it's on purpose..

What do you think:

Should i offset my vecto to make it look like the original, or do you think it's a copied mistake?

The halftones seem to be made with small squares, do you think i should use small squares too? Or maybe it's just an illusion..
 :ghost:

Thanks for reading.  :)

I think you are right, and its ment to be offset

if you look good, you see the part of your arrows is off to the right, but the white line just before that is to the left.

if it was a mistake by the printer this would mean that that layer was printed too low, and thats not the case since its good at the top and bottom.

so i think you should replicate the "mistake"
