I was beaten by my curiosity again!
« on: October 11, 2011, 07:57:47 PM »
After a lot of hesitation and sleepless nights, I finally decided to take a look at this machine. :D
Unfortunately I had to rush for it from work by stealth and couldn't make pics, but it was just a 100 km long roadtrip in an empty motorway, so you didn't miss too much.
Some pics at arrival:

I asked the usual question from myself if I want it or need it or if I have the space to store it, but after 3 big NO, it is here. ;D
Let's investigate what is inside:

The usual jamma+gambling machine setup, a Hantarex mtc 900 and some toys. ;D

The gambling game pcb used to work 20 years ago

I was hoping to find some original arts under those terrible stickers, but I was out of my luck this time. :-\
It has 2 plexi bezels, I guess one of them was the original, I found a minor sign of the yellow painting on it.

There was also nothing under the sideart decals, but the shape of the remaining glue could be seen from the original stickers.

I guess it is a bootleg pcb, but seems like it is fully working and after some adjustments the Hanty mtc 900 has a very nice bright screen.
Now let's start to investigate the weird parts of this cab, I hope Ully can help us to check some details at the Storage. ;D
First of all:the coin door.
It looks like not original, but there is an untouched original Nintendo sticker inside with serial number.
There was a similar Donkey Kong on ebay a few weeks ago, we can compare it.
Mine:

Ebay:

As you can see my serial is much lower, maybe it was the early version of the licensed DK?

Ok, let's take a look at this pic again.
The marquee has the Nintendo sign on it, I'm pretty sure it was not replaced by the previous owners, it has not too much sense.

Ebay machine without Nintendo sign:

And the cp, I guess it is the original one (Ully can you confirm?), but the button hole setup doesn't match also.(I mean the original 3 on the top)

The original setup

So, that's it.
I think Ully is right, this cab is extremly beaten and it does not worth a restoration, I'm afraid it will end up in the dumpster. :-\
Anyway, let's see the bright side as always, I bought a nice workig Hantarex mtc 900, a Salamnder pcb, an original Donkey Kong marquee, switcher, joysticks, etc. for altogether 25 eur, we can say it was a good deal. ;D

That Hanty is alone more worth than 25  ;)

Well done !

here is the licence sticker of my DK table (that now is property of Erik/CKong by the way)

It looks like the same sticker

I would say: DO NOT THROW AWAY THE CAB. This is a very rare Donkey Kong.
Dunno what to put here.
