Operation ThunderChris
« on: August 07, 2011, 05:01:57 PM »

Before going on vacation this year I felt the urge to do something stupid and impulsive... my choice went for:"buy a new cab!".
I saw one on ebay and asked myself the 4 basic arcade questions:
-do I want it?
-do I need it?
-do I have the money for it?
-do I have the space for it?
Please note that: as long as you have at least one positive answer to either one of these fundamental questions, you're good to go  ::)

So I contacted the seller and the deal was quickly made.

Since that minute I was on a mission,...erm, I mean on an operation.
Heading full speed to Kalubya, a thousand nations army couldn't hold me back!

Weapons for the battle were quickly loaded in the combat vehicle.

I kept my eyes open during the trip but there was nothing unusual so the drive was a smooth one.

Arriving at enemy's hide-outs, I couldn't document the rescuing of the green berets Roy Adams and Hardy Jones...
...because my secret camera was confiscated by the guards!
...but I can tell you that:

It was a matter or millimeter to be able to load this package in my Jeep while Adams and Jones were covering me:

Arriving on location in Belgium, the guys were warmly greeted by the local green berets:

Some more pictures of the heroes for the record:

Allright, althought I might not keep this cab forever (did I already say that earlier?), once again the arcade force was stronger than "weak me"  ::)
...and as you witnessed I went for buying it (after having recommended it in the "cabs on ebay" topic, duh).

The price was allright, the distance was 150km, the cab works flawlessly and the gameroom was missing a 2 players cab with a special type of control
(in this case 2 machine guns... sweeeeet  ;D)... more than enough reasons to convince me (yes, I'm that easy).

I'm happy with it and so are the visitors + the rattling noise of the guns sure keeps the rats away from THE BASE... what more could I ask for. ;)
I was then a happy man, ready to go for some wel deserved vacations.

Many thanks to KID for lending me his Road Warrior on the very last minute  :spaceace: :spaceace: :spaceace:

No, wait! There is more!!!
Since my camera got confiscated I had to use one of my secret gadget: the camera-tooth.
So I could take pictures of the enemy's camp while (stupidly) smiling at him.
Suck on this 007!

Here are the shots, mostly bad ones because, believe me, it's quite hard to take pictures with your mouth while speaking dutch.

Bottom line is that some of these cabs are for sale so if anyone is interested, please contact me and I'll pass you the seller's email.

I already asked about the 6 players (6 players!) X-men, the Simpsons, The Air Hockey and the Pac-Mania but these are not for sale.
I kinda like that "Turbo Drive" with the little cars too... mmmmh...
A friend of the seller had a Luna Park at the belgian shore and he used this place as a storage when it sadly turned into a "coin pushers only" place (yuk!).
Now the seller would like to keep his favourite games and sell the rest so he will finally be able to enjoy this ideal gameroom for himslef and his friends.

Now hold on to your bandwith  ;)

I'm really interested in what that steel battalion is. I'm searching for that game 2 years already but never one pops up for the right price. And as far i know there is no arcade version of it. so self made ore converted?  Also the turbo driving is realy awesome and the Mario sign. I'm realy a Nintendo console nerd.

@ Vnera: check the minus link below for more pics of the Steel Battalion.
Should I contact the seller to check if he's selling it?

@ André: check the minus link too for more pics of the Hard Drivin'.

another amazing roadtrip report, chris! all those details in the pics make me return to your roadtrips over and over again in the hopes of spotting something new which i missed during the first session. you must spend some serious time on those reports and pictures, but isn't that what you do for a living: computer design stuff?

-do I want it?
-do I need it?
-do I have the money for it?
-do I have the space for it?
Please note that: as long as you have at least one positive answer to either one of these fundamental questions, you're good to go  ::)

damn, that's a good list we have here. most of the time the tick is behind the first question :P

all i need is ... PONG - and a select few others: TOUCH ME, DRAGON'S LAIR, JOUST, ROBOTRON, MR DO, SAN FRANCISCO RUSH THE ROCK!!!

-do I want it? YES !!!!!
-do I need it? No
-do I have the money for it? Mmmm....depends on the price of course !
-do I have the space for it? No

So, according to your (excellent) rules: Yes, please let me know if it's available, working, complete and for sale ;)
