below the ground lies ...
THE BUNKER[tag line mode off]

of all the former barracks buildings, three are still abandoned / unused and each of them has its own bunker. in fact, the bunkers were a decontamination area which soldiers had to go through in case of an NBC (nuclear, biological, chemical) emergency / accident before entering the main building. some of the old signs are still there - outside and inside! here are two of those bunker entrances

an old entrance sign

the rusted one says
decontamination lock! you've got to love that sign, right?

once down a couple of stairs and a turn to the left, you're standing in front of a
heavy metal door. imagine this being the entrance to a gameroom

note: the following pictures from inside the bunker had to be taken with a wide-angle lens (and flash) in order to capture as much of the rooms as possible in one shot. please also note that there are still many pipes, sinks and other barriers using up a lot of space, but i'm pretty sure that most of it could be removed because it doesn't serve a true purpose anymore (as far as i know).
alright then, let's go inside: after stepping through the lock you're standing in a small corridor with exits to the left and right

the right exit takes us into an almost empty room which was formerly used to store the NBC equipment

the exit on the left opens into the actual NBC "chamber"

separated by the (stylish) orange curtains the area where the contaminated soldiers had to endure the "famous" shower / scrubbing treatment

behind the curtains on the left and behind another metal door are two more smaller rooms directly "attached" to the decontamination room which could easily be integrated into the main room by a removal of a wall - thus making the room bigger (measured in games: 10 more cabinets

). here's a photo of one of them (difficult to photograph)

as promised, i also filmed a short video of the complex - click on the picture to start your personal tour through the bunker!
enjoy

just for your information: if i managed to remove all the unnecessary stuff and "add" the two minor rooms to the decontamination room, i would have around 100 square meters of gameroom space. probably not enough for all my games, but not bad either!
now that you've walked through the bunker with me, what do you think? a pipe dream or something to seriously consider? no matter what, it was a lot of fun to explore. thx a lot for travelling with
"superully's bunker tours"!
