When I see this I think: Damn, 1942 was a brilliant game.

Then came 1943 which was still OK.

Things started to go wrong with 1941..... Grin

mmm shmups. I really would like to learn this type of games a little bit better. The only one i ever played was recca summer carnival and i think nobody here knows it!

What would be a good game to start in this genre? I was thinking ikaruga but i cant find the gamecube version any where. The 2 on MP dont react to my mails.
Any tips on good shumps to get me in this genre?

I enjoyed the more recent reboot of 1942. Obviously not the same, but still fun.

I agree but I think that 1943 is better than 1942  Space Ace(the music, the way the enemy planes moves).

Ha, another C64 vs. A8:

C64:

A8: (Screaming Wings, there was no official 1942, but looking at this comparison I think we were actually lucky !)

Yes the C64 has pretty music, but that doesn't make up for a sucky gameplay ! The A8 Screaming Wings is great to play. Sorry about the video quality, it sucks....
