I was thinking about getting this one http://cgi.ebay.fr/Wellon-VP280-VP-280-Universal-Programmer-IC-Tester-/170606589530?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27b8f1f65a

I have very good experiences with the Galep 4. handles most common Eproms.

thanks but it's parallel port , i'd prefer an usb one, for using on my imac. The 5th version which is usb is 450e, too much for my budget

I know it's a bit high, But I bought mine 2th hand for 175 Euro. (Ebay or Marktplaats etc.)

Why Galep? http://www.conitec.net/english/why.php

I use a dedicated Barebone pc (Pentium II) for all kinds of oldshool activities so no need for USB.

Anyway. I am sure there are many alternatives! I just wanted to share my own experiences  ;)

Yup, mine was very cheap: FREE ! :)

BUT, it's also parallel and that sucks big time today....only DOS software for it and as you know I now have a dedicated laptop for it....but it gave problems the last time I tried to start it up....

Robin has a "Willem" programmer and he says it works great....very cheap too...

I think most won't burn 25xx EPROMs directly, but it should be possible by making an adapter.

I got a true-USB Willem GQ-4X for 99 euros last summer... it works great (i burnes succesfully EPROMs for my Joust and Paperboy  ;) and all the EPROMs i have burned since day one have been tested fine)
