One more Phoenix
« on: December 01, 2010, 03:07:21 PM »
I found this Phoenix accidentaly through our pinball forums.
A guy was looking for some pinball padlocks and as I had a few from those, I offered him for free.
We had a telephone conversation and he told me that he has a Phoenix and as he don't like videogames :o,  he will trade it for any pinball parts or something. He bought this machine together with some pinballs and the seller didn't want to let the flippers go unless he take everything from his place.
I alreay have 2 Phoenixes, but I was unable to let this go! ;D

It has the funniest Cp modification I ever saw in a Phoenix, 1 joystick in a button hole and 3 buttons

A part is missing from the coindoor.......

But I found it the machine ;D

There is a Mat Mania pcb in there with a weird connector: ???

Credit pcb and coin counter also present

I found an UV neon light behind the Cp, they are missing from my other Zaccs, anybody know something about these?

The tube is about 20 cm long, unfortunately doesn't light up

And the monitor cardboard is in mint condition:

I tried to turn it on, the power supply is working, but the monitor tube didn't light up.
I hope it will be an easy fix.
I also purchased this marquee:

Unfortunately a little piece is missing from it's left side, but I'm really happy with this anyway, I love Zaccaria's artworks

I made some investigation around the marquee, because it also didn't light up.Between the spider webs I saw this:

They used a piece from the wooden sideart from a similar cabinet to fix the neon behind the marquee. ???
I don't think it's a home made solution, maybe they used the parts of a rubbishy cabinet in the Zaccaria factory?
Strange, never saw like this before. ???
Finally I realized, that a missing fuse caused the problem, so at least the marquee lights again! ;D

Uh....please tell me you replaced those tube holders !!!!

That tape around the tube end could get hot and melt/burn !

I guess there was a poor contact on the holders to the tube. Better replace the holders anyway, they cost close to nothing and will prevent problems....

Hello,

Re-use of wood taken from unused cab seems to be an habit for Sega too, see this Quartet from F4brice, from Gamoover:

The basement wood cames from another cab, maybe a kind of cannibalism?  ;D

Interesting, could be the recycling process of innacurate constructed cabinets.
I'm sure it's made by the factory. ;)

It's a kind of "pimp my cab"  ;D

- "Hey, why don't put a screen UNDER that cab?"
- "Wait, I have a better idea: let's put a cab part in your cab, so you can play arcade games while you're playing arcade games!"
- "Great idea!!!"
