My new hobby: CPO cooking !

This is a BRILLIANT idea if I may say so myself.

Previously I've been using a heat gun, knifes, putty knifes, wirewheels, sanding discs (loads of them) and combo's of these and it was ALWAYS a struggle.

I had noticed that after my friend welded the 4 studs for the original Pac Man joystick on the CP, the CPO had become loose because of the heat of the welding.
So.....I figured, let's try to heat the CP up VERY hot and see what happens.

It worked out GREAT. In the video you see I can only pull small parts, but this is because it was on an inside bend. The other bigger sides went much smoother. The very big plus is that there is NO glue residue.

Of course you need to be careful, you need an oven-glove to hold the CP and turn on the "air-sucker" to get rid of possible bad fumes, but otherwise, I love this method !

End result without any further work done. There are some small places with some residue. I blame that on doing this method for the first time and the lot's of holes around the joystick hole.

Otherwise, the panel would be ready to put the CPO on, totally free of residue (but I like to paint my CP's for protection first).

I forgot the legal bit: DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME. I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE (LIKE YOUR HOUSE BURNT DOWN) IF YOU TRY TO FOLLOW MY EXAMPLE.

Well she handled the camera :D There's no damage done to the "stove" or what is the English word for the place where you cook.
I guess this will only work when you cook on gas (the only proper way still IMHO ;))

Not sure if she's happy with me, but she doesn't mind about the hobby. Hey, other man are drinking away their money at the local bar....
I just filled the old joystick holes with bondo (like we call it: polyester plamuur) and she's very happy how it smells.......  ;D ;D ;D ;D

This time I applied a shit-load of bondo (well, not too bad) because I want it to be STRAIGHT. I know it will cost me a lot of sanding....
Can't wait to put the CPO on it !

A guy on KLOV actually puts them in an oven ! Our regular European sized ovens are not big enough though. You'll need a "wide-body" oven I guess :)

Think I saw someone put their CP in the oven and on a BBQ grill to remove the CPO. Seemed to work pretty well too.

Excellent tip, I will use it soon and let you know if I burned my kitchen (or at least my fingers).
Seeing arcade parts in a kitchen like that reminds me of that video of Nuno washing his Xevious pcb in a bucket of water and soap.
You two are the Jamie Olivers of the arcade lifestyle  ;D

the kitchen is THE best workplace for any DIY - me and a mate needed to rebuild his motorcycle, it was full of dirt in the carburettors, we took them apart and put the parts in hís dishwasher, worked brilliantly  ;D
and his girlfriend was REALLY happy when she saw his bike taken to pieces in the living room, with us two sitting and discussing how to rebuild it best on the couch with the fueltank placed between us on the couch  ;D ;D ;D
