« on: January 02, 2007, 11:49:27 PM »
Yeeeeehaaaaaaaawwwww !!!  (c) Duke of Hazzard

2007 will be a great year  :P  And it start today, the 2nd of January with my first roadtrip for this new year

For that cab', located in the Finny's Lar, Jason says me : 'If you want to bring back that cab' you've to brings your boots..."

...So I'm preparing all the stuff needed for that third UK expedition  :P

OK, just for archive    :

My 'offical' sponsor  :D

As you probalby know, I'm from Belgium  8)  So I've to cross all my (small) country

...now entering in France ... 4 hours later...

...and I arrive in the Eurotunnel :

Jesus Christ    I didn't print all the route for going to the Finny's Lair    Hopefully, I sitll have a good old map, like the good old days

Welcome in UK  8)

...and here we are : The mission for today will be to climb overthere and get back the cab    :

...mud...  :?

Ok, I send my wife as a scout

...so many traps to reach the lair ...

...no matter, the prize is a ROLLING THUNDER

Now the funny part : bring back the cab to the car...

...hopfully Jason 'Indiana Jones' brings a friend to help  :) Thanks to him too :-)

...and there it is : The Holy Graal for that Journey  :P

Jaz's apprentice, Jaz 'Space Ace' and I 8)  :

So after loading that Namco's piece of art in my car, it's time to eat together ... the 'official' Fish'n'Chips'n'Ghost'n'Goblin... coool  :o

...but It's already time to go back to home  :o

Once again Le Shuttle ...

after 13h30 of fun and ...915km on the road ( don't rembember how many under the sea ) ...

Home Sweet Home

We'are so tired, but I don't want to let that game in the car for the coming cold  night, so I unload it and ... put it in the NUNO's Lair  :P  :P  :P

I would like to thanks Jason to help me to catch that cab'  :P

Rolling thunder is in my all time favorite  top 10 arcade game ever  8)

Thanks for your nice welcome and also to your friend for helping us (sorry, I can't remember his name  :?  )

OK now StaY TuNeD for the 'indeep' examination of that new cab'

Bruno,

Was great to see you and your wife again, you have rewarded yourself with a great Gameroom and Games with all your hard work and effort, you are a great example of determination and effort, yes it has been hard work for you, but in time you would have forgot about the effort and money spent...however your Gameroom/Games will always be there.

OK, so here's the cab inside my lair :

The control panel... It looks good under a ton of dust :

...dust from UK ... woooaww ! Collector item  :P  :D

The front looks good. The main door is open but I have no keys.  The coins door is closed  :?

The marquee is in great condition :

...the back :

The S/N of the game, located on the top of the cab...

...also carved here...

... and finally here, on the flyback of the monitor :

I'm now cleaning all the outside of the cab, even under the cab :

Have a look inside ... no dust... nice :P

The pcb looks very clean, and most of the chips are socketed
:P  Great for fixing in case of problem

No more dust  :P

Before to plug the game, it need a little modification. Let's remove that UK plug ...

...and put a new one... for Belgium socket    :

Ok, I plug the game but ... no picture  :?  I can hear the game, but nothing on screen...  :?

OK, the plug from the monitor and the power supply wasn't fixed... easy fix

Great  :P  It's working fine  :P  I've just to clean the controls because theey are not working very well, but it's working  :P  :P  :P

Ok, let's look closer the control panel overlay :

I remove all the controls, and I'll use this to clean as best as possible the overlay :

After the cleaning :

Better isn't it ?

Such a pleasure to see such a beauty...  :P

arcadefever,
you don't know that game ?? go hurry to discover it...

I don't believe another game make me spend more money than this game

It may be quite awful, compared to shibobi, which is quite close in term of gameplay, but it has an unbelievable addiction power.
And imho, the evil guys lok like the goldorak characters, with their KKK-like masks...

/me going 2 shoot some giant bats and blank panthers

Bruno, you lucky bastard  :D

It's a really good description of the game  :P  It really looks like Shinobi, but 10 x better...    sound & music are better, bad characters looks like the Vega's soldier in goldorak  :

Next time  you'll come in the Nuno's Lair, I'll challenge you on that game, start your training now  :P  :P  :P

OK, back to work...

Let's clean the controls...

...and the screws / parts of the original joystick...

up : water + soap

down : dust removing product

...now let's wait at least 24 hours ... Cool I  have nothing to do for that step

 :P

OK, no more dust, no more rust  :)

I'm fixing the controls like this :

While I was testing the controls, the monitor starts to go wrong

... no more green ...  :(

OK, I suppose a new CapKit will solve the problem... but .. I don't want to spend time on that, and this game DESERVES to have a *brand new* display isn't it ?

So let's remove the monitor :

...done :

... It did good work these 20 last years

I just need to keep the frame. Before removing the componants, I discharge the tube like that :

...and there it is... -once again- ... a *brand new* TV

Model :  Manhattan T 5106 MAV 19" ... 109€  :P

*out of the box*

... 5 skrew l8ter...

the frame is ready :

I'm fixing a wood support for the TV platine :

REady  :P

Let's quickly build a PCB to SCART RGB adapter  8)

Done  :P

...put back the the stuff

YEeeessss  :P  Great picture  :P

As you can see the picture has to be set... coz' it's a modern TV, there's no potentiometers on the platine so what...  :?

Fortunately, there is a technician code who allows me to enter in an hidden menu, where I can set everything  :o  :D

...better isn't it ?

The display problem is now fixed  :P

But I get 2 new problems now  :?  :

- no more sound

- graphic problem on the title screen

to continue... of course  8)

Seems that the in game has some trouble too, look at your energy bar, it looks   not regulary full, but with vertical bar inside  it.
Maybe it's the same layer of graphic employed by the title screen which seems tho have exactly the same vertcal bar problem.
Not sure but it's maybe a corrupted eprom that gives you those anoying bars

Thanks Funkycochise, I didn't notice it yet.  I'm waiting for IC chip to fix the sound problem... and I'll try to have a new set of roms for that graphic corruption.

Fortunately, I'm waiting for a *fully working* Rolling Thunder pcb soon  :D

Start to practise on that game for your next coming at the Nuno's Lair
