Last weekend we competed for the 4th time at the "Internationale Mars-en Showwedstrijden" at Hamont, Belgium.
Every 2 years this 3-day festival is held at the market place in the heart of this town just across the border with The Netherlands.
About 2000 musicians from Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany, France, Austria and the Czech republic compete for the highest honour, becoming "champion of the low countries" for the next 2 years.
Most of our drumband members and some fans go there for the entire weekend and we have a lot of fun looking and listening to the bands, the fireworks, and an occasional beer

We meet a lot of foreign musicians and it's a great weekend. On the monday we compete in the drumband section.
We recently became 3rd in the Dutch national championships (CKONG was there !) but this time we managed to score an incredible 90% score, with cum laude from the jury and became the champions in our section !
The bands are judged not only on music, but also on the marching and discipline.
Pretty amazing stuff. Some pics:

And so, yes Barry, I play bass, but not the kind I think you meant

As a cherry on the cake, our band leader and "tambour-maitre" received the price for best "tambour-maitre" for the entire festival !
