I have seen on craigslist why people put fake ads on..

On Craigslist people put many fake ads on to make all the other people that look to try and find a cheap deal give up.

So people get fed up and never look anymore. This then gives all the genuine sales to the person that puts the fake auction up.

It's a really awful thing to do. But greedy people do it in the hope they get a Quantum or Major Havoc for $200.

I guess the someone is doing the same thing on marketplaats - to try and piss you guys off so you won't look anymore and they get the real games for cheap with less people contacting the seller.

It's probably someone on this forum too.

yeah and like I said before this person seems to be dyslectic if you read the adds very well.

and it's an easy way to get a 'feeling' for how big the arcade scene is. People email you names, questions, bids. etc. etc.

The price is insane, that can't be a serious bid! Also the picture seems to be made in the US, look at the garage door.

Well that really sucks big time! I seriously bid 600 coz I was so happy to see a Pengo on sale. I have no idea what the going rate for such a machine is but 600 seemed ok to me (remember, newbie here  )
And now I see that you guys have seen this kind of adds before and it is a fake  That would explain why I haven't gotten a replay on my email requesting additional information.
I thought it would be an amazing stroke of luck, finding another classic on my to-get-list after getting the DK Jr. I guess it is true what they say: if it seems too good to be true, it is! Oh well, live and learn

Same monitor as the more famous Commodore 1084. It's a Philips, and an excellent monitor for testing, right Robin & Erik ?
With some hacking it's also excellent for a cocktail. But MSX collectors would probably cry

Got a mail from the seller of Pengo. He send some pictures. I have no idea what to think since everybody here is convinced it is a fake. Posting the pics here and looking forward to hearing your reactions. Going to send a mail back and I'll keep you updated. Gyruss, did you get a reaction to your email?

EDIT: the inside looks like a sega cabinet and the pcb seems to be genuine as well, but nevertheless he could have stolen those pictures as well. let's see if you get another reaction from him!
