i bought them from a danish seller, 1250DKK a piece..

http://arcadeshoppen.dk/ (though i dont want to derail Level42 topic/bulk buy)
Not a bad price, but .....flat screen.....of course always better than LCD.....

About the chassis I found, they are from a Greek manufacturer (at least it looks like the make them theirselves). Price is 135 euro though, pretty steep, and that's excluding shipping taxes etc. etc.

It looks like a nice quality chassis though.....

Sometimes a site actually gives you some hope. Like this:

http://www.kristel.com/crt.html

Then I get this reply when I inquire about 19" monitors:
Hello Andre,

The 19” CRT’s you reference are obsolete. There is no more monitors and we can not get parts any further to repair.

How many units are  you looking for? I have other options to explore with you.

Thanks, Dan

I actually mentioned a number (30) in my e-mail, and as a wild alternative, a 20' container full of them.

Well, you probably knew that they are hard to find. But don't give up yet, you never know.  8)

Well he mentioned "other options" so I e-mailed and asked what that would be.....probably LCD alternatives but who knows....

I'm not giving up at all ;)

What chassis is now delivered on the monitors you bought Michael ? (Pic ?)

I wonder if it will handle the flat-screen OK.... ?

So, I get the new Suzo(-Happ) catalogue today. I was expecting the worst so imagine my COMPLETE surprise to still see CRT monitors available ! However, almost all of them are VGA. BUT I see one 20" CGA replacement monitor !!!! WOW I think. A couple of years ago I asked if they could deliver the Vision-Pro monitors that Happ was selling (because of the merger they told me they could now deliver anything that Happ sold as well). However, they refused the CRT monitors because of their weight.... :(

So, now there's one in their catalogue, BUT the sadness soon came when I saw the price: €349 EX.VAT (19%) so a whopping total of € 415,31.............

The product code has a H before it. This indicates that it is a Happ product so I guess they added a shitload of shipping costs.....

Also they mention: while stocks last....

Gonna give them a call tomorrow if that price is not a typo ;)

The catalogue that I received is called "Gaming" which is a nice "hide" word for money-gambling. Not sure if they still have any other catalogues here. Compared to the catalogue I had before this, a lot of arcade controls stuff has gone. Not even the famous Suzo Joystick anymore !!!!!!!
No real push-buttons (only the new "modern-day" stuff). No leaf switches anymore (I heard they sold everything to flipperwinkel.nl).
Still plenty of "general" parts that still come in handy in our hobby though...

Guys, I strongly suggest anyone here to go with Muerto's offer for brand new monitors, as long as you can fit in a 21" tube in your game. The offered price is a great price IMHO.

One of my biggest hopes just informed me that they could only deliver 14" monitors still and that was it !

I do wonder why the hell they keep the information on the other models on their site if those are no longer available.

So, the only option I still see now is (maybe) some US source(s). However, my goal was to find a far-east source because that's also where the US guys get their stuff and thus would save a lot of costs.

I did get an alternative suggestion: find used 19" VGA monitors (they are often free to pick up or close to free now) and use a CGA to VGA converter. Those things are pretty cheap now today, there are several offerings to get them and I also got an offer. When there's enough interest I could do an order but I'd need at least 10 orders.
The thing with this is that of course you will get a smaller dot pitch compared to a real CGA monitor. But I'd still hugely prefer this over any LCD option.

For now I say: rescue heaps of used 19" TV's !!!! They are very cheap everywhere 2nd hand. You can either use them through SCART or maybe use the CRT only with a separate chassis. The best is to get those rather new models that have electronic set-up (with menu's).

Alternatively, if you guys want, I could try contact some US sources and see what the price will end up in a bulk deal. Don't expect them to be cheap though....

Too bad, but hey, 19" CRT TV's still are pretty easy to find. Perhaps that indeed is the way to go.

Another option could perhaps be Paul from Paul's 50's. He did mention to me that occasionally he brings over stuff from the USA for other people when there is space left in one of his containers. Maybe his contact person could arrange something over there. I suppose Paul would want a fee for it, but that can't be that much I suppose.

Maybe you can make a special deal. Greek are in much trouble today :)

True. The amazing thing is that these indeed look like they make them themselves, esp. to fit Hantarex tubes.

But the chassis price is still too high IMHO.

Maybe 100 euro. The other chassis from the far east are about half that price. I think the Greek one's are probably better quality though...

I can't believe it, after numerous of NO's from about everywhere and another NO from even a US source that had plenty of CRT monitors on their site still (Betson) it seems I just hit the jackpot.

Of course we are talking far east contacts and the price look promising BUT we'll have to look about transport of course.

I'll have to study the e-mail a bit further, but this is looking promising ! ( Although in all fairness, we're talking 21" CRT's here but true BULB one's as they mention ;)

This is good news, we now might have two sources for CGA 21" monitors.  :)

OK guys, I'm up to the point where they can ship me a test-monitor. However, shipping price is pretty hefty.

I'm looking if some of you guys want to chip in. Not sure what we should do after the testing though....maybe have a lottery to see who gets the monitor ?

Thing is, I want to have one here to test, look if it fits etc. etc. before going in DEEP (Which means ordering a lot of monitors)

Anybody who wants to chip in, please drop me a PM. Thanks !
