street fighter the movie was pretty weak, but it was a perfect realisation of the game, it was entirely 2dimensional and the characters had no character, i kind of enjoyed it for what it was, and the fact that kylie minogue played cammie
What could there possibly be in the film to relate to a game which is barely 1 dimensional.
(and that article mentioned developing tomb raider into a movie, hasn't that already been done)
