1943 restoration. UPDATED 1943 &1942 reunited...
« on: July 08, 2006, 09:28:56 PM »
:D  i just took a few days off, and decide to finally restore my 1943.
i got that cab 3 years ago for $100, but the art of the CP was in very bad shape.

the CP as also 2 big figthing stick, ugly buttons, burn and discolor plexy and a very old monitor.

i bought a new CPO on ebay, bought some plexi ...and this is the result:

OLD 1943:

NEW 1943  :o

First i change the monitor  :(  sad coz it has been inside sins 1982   but the burns on the screen are to much during the game play...

that the new monitor,  (THANKS TO MR.MEGALO !!! form Killer cabs for giving me the adress in Miami   )

now, remove all the old cables and rewire the all thing....

for the sticks, i use 2 sanwa and for the buttons, transparent red and blue with led lights...

i also add a lighted button for the credits, and that the cab done

that cab look great now !!! i'm going to get the "mike double jamma adapter" and add "1942" by pressing player 1 and 2 at the same time, i will be able to switch between both game....

the perfect old school shooter reunion... 1942&1943 ....

 :D

What a great job Arcadefever  :)

It's really cool, that after 3 years, you get time to work on it  :)
Usually, we spend time on the latest games buyed, but it's really great to go back on the old one and finish the job  :o

Including 1942 & 1943 in the same cab is the best thing you can do. The jamma switch it's of course the perfect solution for that  :)

Arg, you're really a lucky man. USA is the best place for a vintage arcade fan...especially for buying brand new monitor...so cheap in US  :o

I like the new buttons (with light)... Really cool in the dark WOOOW :P

Next time I'll go to USA, I MUST visit your lair

some more progress on the 1942 pcb  :D
i got it from ebay few months ago, and didnt know if it work or not  :?

first i search for the pinouts and then build a jamma loom.

after that , i run the board on my test bench ....

and ....

IT WORK  :D

i even tried the game in the 1943 cab, PERFECT !!!

next step, buy the mike double jamma adapter, and connect both boards ...

i will just to have to press player 1&2 at the same time to switch between games

ok, the project is finally done  :D

i got from ebay, that really nice double jamma pcb:

so i place in the cab 1942 and 1943 conected to that pcb.
and add an extra push button to be able to switch between games.

the cool thing about that pcb is both game are powered  at the same times, so no need to wait for boot time.
and the cool thing is, during the demo mode, the cab switch every 2 minutes between the 2 games.
for 2 minutes you will see 1943 and then 1942....

so now i heve  2 cool old school shooters in the same cab  :D
