Great picture... and great book! This is the best book I read regarding the Atari era...many anecdotes

Just got the book with the 1001 games. It is a cool book for the price. A nice 6 cm on the shelves. I found a lot of new games I want to try, and it is really contemporary too. It even includes some Dutch made 2010 indy games like Chime or Swords and Soldiers, and the 2009 Belgium masterpiece of art "the Path".

2 flaws:
- not all games have pictures. This is a real pitty sometimes, especially if you consider the layout to allow a picture for every game with ease.
- always missing a few personal favourites (but that cannot be called a flaw)

• Rick Dangerous 1+2
• Sonic 1+2 for the Game Gear, which I like much better than the Genesis versions as they are cool retro 8-bit versions with the best 8-bit music ever made
• Second Life

I found out that Ralph H. Bear wrote a book about the beginning of videogames. Could be an intersting read. does someone know this book?

I've got a fantastic book about videogames yesterday from my Girlfriend.I was very surprised, because I didn't know this book exists.
The title is "Pixelheroes" the first 50 years of videogames on 445!!! pages.It has tons of pics and also the history of manufacturers from the 1950's.It starts with the very first games on those huge computers and aslo has a section for arcade cabinets, Zx Spectrum, C64, Amiga, Atari 2600, retro consoles, pc games, etc..It's a very fresh release from 2010 November from a hungarian writer.
The prologue says:"This book is dedicated to my father, who bought the first C64, Amiga and ZX Spectrum for me".
Additionally it also conatins a DVD with thousands of games for C64, Spectrum, Amiga and Dos.Each game has it's own built in emulator, so you just have to click on the game from the selected platform and play!I tried Ace of Aces for C64, it still rocks!!!

Lots of vintage illustrations/photos, I like that!
Note for my girlfriend: I'd rather receive that book (even if I can't read a word) than another stupid tie or a cigar (being a daddy doesn't specifically imply receiveing boring gifts for your birthday).

A DVD with the games on them ? That can't be legal.....but who gives a $&^)$( 

Nice book.

However, (just like supercade) it looks to me like these books seem to source most of their pictures from the Arcade Flyers archive...

I know it's an impossible mission, but it would be great to have a book full of modern-day hi-res pictures of original restored machines...

You should surely enjoy this book without understanding, huge quantity of vintage pics and that DVD is amazing, I can't stop playing those old games.I'm playing Command & Conquer with dos emulator atm..

I plan it to be my next project. I already asked Bruno for collaboration. Problem is how to get them well lit on location.

BTW, is that book available in that swedish or polish only, or is it translate from some more common language like Dutch ?

Your handheld games pictures are always terrific so I really think you're the right guy for this job!
I know nothing about photography but is renting a few special lights and a "reflector" for a day very expensive?
Ooops off topic again, sorry... back to my book now.
