Hi guys, I am truly sorry to be writing a post like this.
I live in Australia and was looking at building a machine of my own, but due to my lack of knowledge at the time, I was a little lost. Luckily for me (or so I thought) "Dexter" whose name is Steve G (and says he works for DELL Australia) offered to help me by building me a machine and dropping it off on his way through my town and I pay him for it. Sounds absolutely brilliant to me, anyhow, at the time I wasn't completely financial to pay for the whole cabinet and so I gave Steve a $100 deposit to by materials to start. After doing this, it became increasingly difficult for me to get a hold of him, almost like he was avoiding me in which he was, after a few back and forths of emails I finally got a hold of him and we had agreed for him to refund my money and he would sell the cab to someone else. Well after trying to chase him down to refund my money, he ran off with it! IN OTHER WORDS HE HAS STOLEN MY MONEY
this was a very unfortunate experience for me and has really made me wary of some traders, but my message to all is DON'T DEAL WITH DEXTER, HE IS A THIEF, REGARDLESS OF WHAT HE TELLS YOU, HE IS A THIEF. I apologise for my rant and apologise if I have upset of any of his friends, but this is the truth and I wouldn't post it if it wasn't.

Thankyou for your time.

Unfortunately it is the Dexter you all know in this forum, I though he was a stand up guy too but wasn't. I know he and his partner went through a trying time but his promises to me were empty and were never going to be kept. Too bad I was the sucker that took the bate.

Yeah that sounds like him (name and company he works for).

Personally, he promissed me to do some artwork for my Puckman and Joust machines. Since he was collecting all different versions of DL and SA I thought I could return the favor by buying and sending him a couple of those games for the Atari Jaguar which he was looking for. It cost me a reasonable amount of money.

Ever since, I've got nothing back from him but replies that he has moved (which is like MONTHS ago already now) and "Can't reach his PC" (I really wonder what kind of people move homes and move all their stuff, but leave their PC somewhere else !?!?!) and just keeps sounding like a broken record and repeating that "it will be finished soon". Even better, he mentioned the Joust WAS finished, but when I asked him to send it over to me I got 0 reply.

I have lost all faith in this guy. Sure, I can understand real life gets in the way apart from hobbies, but here in Holland a promise is a promise.

It's funny how you say he couldn't reach his pc, coz when I was trying to get pictures out of him, furst he couldn't reach his pc, then he could get time and THEN he lost the usb lead to his camera, how on earth would he not have another if he does a tonne of digital photography?? seems he takes most ppl for fools, and I was the stupid one to trust and to pay him $100 lol.

I think the total sum this cost me was about 60 Euro's. It's not so much the money (although I hate waisting it, I've worked hard enough for it) but it's even more the fact that you keep on waiting, hearing nothing, getting more promises etc. etc.

If you can't do it, DO NOT MAKE PROMISES, so I can look for alternatives.

it´s a typical fraud excuse, forthcoming baby´s, pregnancy (same goes for serious illnes or death) etc. Everyone buys that, because everyone loves their own kids or baby´s, and they know that. And who has the guts to come toward a soon to be dad, with nagging stories about a handful of money, now would you Huh? Roll Eyes lol

He did say that his wife's niece passed away at one stage and I let him be for a few weeks, as I could never think of one of mine passing. I just hope for his sake that this is true ( i know that sounds awful) but if it isn't, he will be going to hell, you never speak ill of something like that.

haha it´s always great fun to hear what sort of excuse they come up with.
I can guarantee you that his wife´s niece is still alive, IF she even existed in the first place Space Ace

If this is the case, then he will burn and if I ever meet him face to face, I wouldn't be surprised if I did do something I would regret, I guess I just can't understand how some people are so straight to you up front and then the dark side comes out after that, it's bullshit.

enter the last phase, you just lost all your confidence in that guy and start telling others about him, he notices it and then he may contact you with a big IM SO SORRY letter and he tells you everything will be alright very soon, and he stresses that he will send you the money back. ( in the worst case he will threaten you for badmouthing but that is normally not the case)
the good person in you will believe it, but after some time NOTHING will happen...

I learned all that from just watching tv haha a tvshow called OPGELICHT or FRAUDULENT in English

Sound like a A...hole to me. I'm glad I have never been fraud on-line, I could never forgive such a thing. I would probably use more money to find out where he lived than he owned me. But revenge is a sweet thing.... Grin
