Meetings, Exhibition, Events... / Italian meeting?
« on: February 24, 2024, 10:49:59 PM »
Hi all,
first of all sorry if i didn't post so often. I had not easy years but the light is there in the end of the cathodic tube 😂

Considering I miss you all and our mythological meetings I'm considering the possibility to organize an Italian arcade event in Milan. Possibly in July.
If you can partecipate I'll glad to make an arcade event. I know.we are older but I really miss eurocade atmosphere.
We have a bit of time, lmk
Cheers

You can access through www.vernimark.com as usual or directly on www.vernimark.com/arcades or arcades.vernimark.com (from next monday)

You can find all my restorations, some monitor manuals and a fast access to arcade manuals.
Only 50 pdf are online right now but every week I'll upload 50 so in 1 month all 300 manuals will be online again. I hope to reach 500 manuals before the end of this year .

Arcade Lifestyle / ARDUINO project for classic cabinets
« on: April 05, 2018, 07:15:02 PM »
a couple of years ago I needed to make something in order to set old games in free play. In fact some games don't support free play mode and some others haven't attract mode if free play is set.
I used an Arduino to do that. Pressing START1 arduino first of all inserts a coin and then press START1. THe same for START2, inserting 2 coins instead of one. I used Arduino Nano and a relay board. Cost of the kit less than 5 euros.
But now this project evolved.
Now this Arduino implements a Bluetooth protocol and using a smartphone you can
- activate/deactivate free play mode.
- power on/off the game
- reset the game
- insert coins / press start buttons
- activate test mode
- press service buttons
- modify delays between coins or buttons
- activate/deactivate coins (stop playing)
- control the status of several counters (supports counters for free play mode and for coin mode, save separately single games and double games
- activate/deactivate sound
Setup is saved on its EEPROM so Arduino remembers the last status.
Is it useful? Actually I don't know.
It can be useful during arcade events so you can interact with the game without opening it but actually this is only an experiment.
The smartphone app doesn't exist yet (next step), I'm using a BlueTooth terminal application now.
Am I wasting my time? Any suggestion?
For instance: internal temperature monitor? voltage control?

« on: January 24, 2018, 06:34:31 PM »
Hi there,
thanks to Q*ris now I have "OFF LIMITS" pics I need  :spaceace:

Actually I need pics of a lot of zac cabs but now I'd like to work on frogger.

I can see Frogger is in 2 different shapes (see pics), so I'm interested in both cabs.
For sure I need a picture like the ASTRO WARS I attached . Not relevant the background, just please pay attention to reflections

I need picture of other parts too, as:
- side art
- glass
- CPO
- any other pic you want: pcb, internal/external details...

if you have the cab and you are bored just with the idea to take pics I can come (if in Europe) on spring with some beers with my camera  ;D ;D ;D
it is valid for any other zac cab you have ahah

Arcade Lifestyle / I want to tell you a story...
« on: October 30, 2017, 12:29:08 AM »
Twelve years ago I moved to Bologna for a new job. I was quite excited because I had the opportunity to work with the greatest arcade actors made the Italian arcade history, as Zaccaria and many others you probably don't know.
I designed gaming machines as slot machines and fruit machines for many years but this wasn't the job of my dreams and during the last 3 years I suffered more and more.
So in the beginning of last summer I left my workplace and transferred to Milano where I opened "Vernimark Noleggio Videogiochi" that we can translate as Vernimark Videogames Rental service.
I'm offering now the possibility to have classic arcades in corporate events. Companies, event managers or communication agencies can organize events using my arcades or pinballs. I'm available for shootings or video clips too.
This service is quite new here in Italy and I have few competitors and some of them are friends.
Here is the web site
http://Http://Noleggiovideogiochi.vernimark.com
And these are the available arcades at the moment
http://www.vernimark.com/noleggiovideogiochi/tutti-i-videogiochi/
And you can find Vernimark Noleggio Videogiochi on facebook.
It's in Italian, i m sorry.

Now I'm setting up a showroom and with the few money remained I will try to find some classics I still miss (my collection has my favourite games, not the most wanted).

Let's cross the fingers!
 ;D

Technical Area / tempest coupler
« on: June 07, 2017, 01:58:03 AM »
I report here the post made in VECTORLIST hoping someone here can help me:

Hi all,
I have 3 tempest boards. two work fine, while the third has a problem with the spinner direction.
using a Taito spinner all 3 boards work fine so I started to analyze the atari spinner behaviour first.

What I could see is one of the 2 square waves is "lower" than the other and this seems to have impact one one of the boards only.

Going to the board I can see  both waves arrive to the MC14584B in E6 correctly but the lower wave doesn't exit from this component  properly (pin 12). Inverting speed and direction pins, the problem persists (but in pin 6); so, the problem is definitely caused by the "lower" wave).
I replaced this component (with a 7414) but nothing changed.

So my questions are:

why this happens on this board only?

just in case, is there a good source for OPB2208 coupler? or is there a cheap replacement?
