Arcade Lifestyle / Going classic on Android Tablet
« on: May 02, 2013, 04:36:39 PM »
Few months back I've bought myself an Archos gamepad ( http://www.archos.com/products/themed/gamepad/index.html?country=us&lang=en#a ) running Android 4.1. After installing the MAME4droid-app and the adapted romset I was surprised how smooth the tablet was running the games and how easy it was with the analog controls on the tablet to play those classic games.
Today I finaly decided to buy the Dragon's Lair game for Android, just not 5€ in googles App-store. Man, this really rocks, almost original gameplay, very nice graphics and once again, with the analog controls a real pleasure to play. So today, once again, I've got transported back to the 80's and this with a modern high tech machine  ;)

Ok, got some bad news yesterday. My contractor, who will be rebuilding the house, is coming to tear down the old buildings of my place on juin the 16th. Arcadegek was the one who would take the lot, but i've tried to contact him but didn't get any response untill now. So if someone else is intrested... . Still the same conditions: all or nothing!!!

At this point I have a candidate for it  ;)
Some people may think that most of it is junk and that this is why I'm giving it away for free  ??? ???. The sad part of this is that this is not true. Infact, I was planning to build my personal gameroom now that I was rebuilding the house but the authorities over here don't won't to give me the permission to build that extra space, so I had to decide: having a kitchen or a gameroom  :'( :'( ... well I can tell you my wife made that decision realy easy  ;D ;D. and just for the record: I don't hate her for it  :D :D.

Hi to all. Because I will be rebuilding my house and I don't have time for this arcade-hobby anymore I want to get rid of most of my stuff. I have some PCB's, some were working a few years ago but I didn't test them recently, 3 generic-cabs WIMI-style (one has a new 19" monitor) and a "Space Chaser"-cab (not working, no pcb, with manual).
The PCB's: Roller Aces (not tested), Super Space invaders '91 (should be working), City Connextion (not working), Gyrus (not tested), Rambo 3 (should be working), Olympic (should be working), Ninja Gaiden (should be working), Vollyball (not tested), Moon Ranger (should be working), Karate Champ (should be working).
About the price... let me see... as I don't know if everything is working or not I give them for free, just one condition: take it all and see what you can do with it.
Location of this all: Belgian Coast, near to the French border

Arcade Lifestyle / Re: GYRUSS CENTURI CAB - Scratch Built Replica -
« on: January 18, 2011, 08:40:35 AM »
A verry nice job indeed, loved reading this topic a lot, Gyruss is my all time favourite...

As usual... perfect! You're the master of the scratch built replica! I'm sure this is not your last cabinet  ::) :P
But maybe you should take a break and enjoy your games... wait! no ! Do not play them... I don't want you improve your High scores, especially the Galaga & ...Gyruss ones... (Damn! After the planet Mars, the game is very hard & fast )

Talking 'bout high-scores: I've must have been 'round 17 or 18 years old, Gyruss was still a hot game in those days and I was always playing the game back then. One wednesdayafternoon I did set my personal record: after playing the same game for 3 or 4 hours I reached a high score over 8.000.000, was on stage over 300 (the game sets it back to 0 after stage 99) and I still had 11 lives left when I had to go home for dinner. After that day I didn't play the game that much anymore, but even today on my mamecab, it's normal for me to reach earth at least 2 times. But ofcourse, I'm still wondering how long I would have played the game if didn't had to go home that wednesday  ??? ... .

That's nice to see that the game is still there at "Aire de Sommesous". Before, when I was still a truckdriver, I always took a break at that place, only to get to play Galaga. Brings back some nice memories.

Technical Area / Re: Monitor color problem
« on: May 28, 2009, 12:25:02 PM »
Well ok, finaly, after more than 3 years of searching I found the problem with my cab-monitor. As I was always using the cab with the ultimarc j-pac I never thought about the fact that this could be the problem.
Last weekend, I started up the cab and it seems something was wrong with the buttons, so I've checked them and I found out some of them were sticking. No problem, just chanched them and everything was ok again. But as I was working on the buttons I've had that crazy idea of changing the J-pac with a new one, I've bought this one some 5 years ago as secondhand so don't ask how old it is.
Today DHL delivered my new J-pac and I installed it into my cab and guess what: Nice bright colors, no more greenish, it just needed some tweeking to get it all nice and neat.
Well that's it, I'm so glad I was a little lazy and stingy to change the monitor and not buy a new one, got the parts changed you guys had told me to a few years back.
Let the games continue   ;D  ;D  ;D

Arcade Lifestyle / Re: How Did You Start Your ARCADE COLLECTION?
« on: August 05, 2008, 09:00:14 AM »
To be honest: I don't remember. Ad the end of the 90's, when all arcades were almost gone in my area, I discovered MAME. It was like a dream come true, I rediscovered some old games that I did forget about. And then it all started I guess: first there was mame on my pc, then I've bought a generic cab and transformed it into a mame-cab and it went on, bought a few old game-boards and ... . If I had the spare space I would like to create my own gameroom and buy or recreate some dedicated cabs. But for now: owning some pcb's and my mame-cab is allready a fun thing to have and who knows..., maybe..., someday... .   ;)

Oh man.. This sounds like so much fun. I'd be tempted to fly all the way there from America ( cept I don't have a passport at the moment ) jealous!

I think a passport is just a minor detail ... .
