Title: Arcade locations
Post by: Sphere on February 07, 2016, 11:55:26 PM
Hey Guys,

Since awhile I am mapping all the arcades that I can find and in the meantime I have found quite a lot of locations. Right now I have 116 added to my map at http://www.arcadeuniverse.net/arcade-map/ (http://www.arcadeuniverse.net/arcade-map/) . Do you guys have some tips for arcades that I am still missing?

Regards,

Pieter

There is this list from ArcadeBelgium but not many have more than 10 cabs: http://www.arcadebelgium.be/ab.php?l=en&r=loc&p=list (http://www.arcadebelgium.be/ab.php?l=en&r=loc&p=list)
There is also this cool website by liquidx but it's only about pinballs: http://findapinball.com (http://findapinball.com)

Cool Site, Pieter.

When I visited prague, there were a arcade in the middle of the town, I made some pictures from outside. My mistake was when I passed it the first time with my colleagues, I didnt go in because I had the plan to visit it next morning - and guess what, they had closed  >:(.
So I cant tell anything about the amount of cabs.

But on the other side, I will do some pictures from the arcade in our cinema. They rebuilt the cinema so I didnt visit the arcade and dont know if its that big as before.

Netherlands:

http://www.funhousevlissingen.nl

http://funhouserenesse.nl

Those still have videogames last time I checked. Actually the one in Renesse had REMOVED all the money gambling machines and was videogames and ticket games ONLY !!! But that was about a year ago....

I was in Valkenburg around Christmas last year but the last one with videogames there ( Copacabana ) is now gambling only.

By the looks of the website Hommerson Scheveningen is now gambling only too :(  :(

For some real fun go to:

Looks like Hall of Game didn't make it: http://www.faillissementsdossier.nl/nl/faillissement/1045404/hall-of-game-b-v.aspx

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I will work on these to add as much as possible to the map.

The Belgium arcades I have with the exception of the holiday parks as they might not be publicly accessible. But thank you for the link though, it is huge! I will double check the smaller arcades too maybe they have more in the meantime. Thanks for the suggestions.

Thanks Andreas, is the arcade http://www.arcadehry.cz/museum by any chance? I will be in Prague the 31st of March and the 1st of April. So I might want to check it out.

@Level42, I have added the majority of the Arcades including Hall of Game for completeness sake and marked it as closed permanently.

The pinball museum looks like great fun indeed, I need to bring my son there as well! :D

Thanks for the locations.

Hey Guys,

Thanks to your contributions I managed to get a total of 138 locations on the map up to now. It is my goal to have 500 arcade locations on the map before the 1st of July. Still a massive quest but I am confident this will work. So if you have any additional suggestions please let me know.

In the meantime I have done a new update and I now have 165 locations on the maps.

Do you guys know of any arcades in Ireland though? So far I have not been able to find any although I know there is 1 in Dublin.

Hi,

not sure if this is what you are looking for, but there is a pinball museum in Neuwied, Germany: http://www.flippermuseum.eu/ They have more than 150 pinballs in there, but you have to pay per game. You need to buy Deutsche Mark and you can get them cheaper if you buy more, but it still gets quite expensive very fast. Otherwise, it's a great location and they have really cool machines.

Furthermore, there is a company named Solf. They have amusement halls mostly for gambling machines in the area of Bonn and Cologne, but they also have a few pinballs (up to 3 - 4 per hall) and some Naomis and also dedicated arcade cabs in there. http://www.solf.de/01_spielstaetten/index.html
The one at the Friedensplatz in Bonn has three pinballs, a 4 player Outrun 2, a Twin Sega Rally 3, some lightgun games (I think there was a House of the Dead 4 and Ghost Squad) and some Naomis with Soccer and Tennis Games. Pinballs have been Spider-Man, Medieval Madness and Pirates of the Caribean.
The other amusement halls also have some pinballs and arcades, but I don't know which.
It's not something worth to go there only for this, but if you are near by, it is definitely worth a visit.

Thanks for sharing SeTTleR, I will look into those. My main focus is on arcade cabinets of at least 10 and if they have pinballs that would be nice too but arcade cabinets are a must. Thanks for the suggestions!

I've been to "Fun House" in Renesse NL last week.
It's already in Sphere's list of course.
It's a very nice place with a cool 80's vibe (even if there aren't any classic cabs in there any more).

I'm sure you'd like to know of an arcade that has a Namco Ridge Racer Full Scale (https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.3986352,0.9221465,3a,75y,302.51h,90.87t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sQs_TWF5icsSnLkAOwksTYw!2e0!7i13312!8i6656) (I hope it's still there. It was and probably still is in very poor condition)
There are some other arcades close by to there as well.

A load of arcades in Great Yarmouth in here (https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@52.5954478,1.7356284,3a,46.2y,149.31h,92.02t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1s59cTyWJc_OxO0w7iUJVrLg!2e0!7i13312!8i6656), here (https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@52.5992267,1.7358596,3a,75y,71.81h,92.99t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1snGmDJ42-ezwhFNwwrkoMCQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656) and along here (https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@52.6018536,1.7362011,3a,75y,3.74h,88.67t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sqntLR7nYMv8F-57LZuqlwg!2e0!7i13312!8i6656).

There are also plenty of arcades in Skegness. Go left or right from here (https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@53.1420195,0.3435635,3a,75y,338.93h,80.71t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sJ9DUFrR1XMLWNn6to6bguQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656) and you'll find some.

Fantasy Island in Ingoldmells (https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@53.1927892,0.3476533,3a,75y,206.51h,95.8t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sqzQvLfxFU0P5VSdRmrCVhA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656) near Skegness has a 4 cab Daytona setup with (non-functioning) motion seats.

There are also some arcades surrounding Fantasy Island: Here (https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@53.1926715,0.3502013,3a,75y,49.12h,92.31t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1shKxg-xM2OCO9qoZmVphEfQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656), here (https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@53.1925661,0.3522938,3a,75y,212.95h,82.51t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sYDVgRb-GCyUNPtNpG-_cHw!2e0!7i13312!8i6656), here (https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@53.1925042,0.3531239,3a,75y,44.27h,85.42t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sptjMcPpkWTTIBUIl-37Juw!2e0!7i13312!8i6656), here (https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@53.1931096,0.3434954,3a,75y,35.66h,91.58t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sC91UOSljHTmpwh4IQst4Rg!2e0!7i13312!8i6656) and here (https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@53.1928353,0.34709,3a,75y,342.9h,81.15t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sonn2DypjeO3St4DM08ewqQ!2e0!7i13312!8i6656). One of them contains these cabs:

I could list more, but that could take a very long time and I don't feel like doing it.

EDIT: Updated links. The street view positions changed for some reason.

Nice :)  Do you have to pay any tax or fee just for the games standing there or do you only have to give away a part of the money you earn with them?

Anyway to catch up on my quest to map all locations in the known galaxy I am looking for more arcades in Canada. Currently there are only 6 (b)arcades on the map but I am sure there are more, especially on the east side. Anyone know any east by any chance?

5 minutes walk from Maashaven metro I see.  The wife is plotting a trip to 020 for us in September, along with my oldest child (if 23 is still classed as a child lol).  If it happens, then I am sure I ill take a trip to 010 to escape the drunk, skunk fuelled Brits in 020 for a day.  Maybe even a trip to Doomdrecht if my old Boss is still living there.

The pinball museum is great and I am not even a pinball lover. But no, it does not fit the criteria for the arcade map though so I won't be adding it.

Although I now have more than 400 arcades on the map I am still specifically looking for arcades in Germany. Are there any (b)arcades around Hamburg and Berlin by any chance?

There is going to be a great videogame museum in Zoetermeer, The Netherlands, soon. In the middle of the city center, where previously a big 'Shopping center' was (called V&D). Initiator for this museum is Psykick (Hasan), well known in the dutch Gaming community and a great guy. A lot of us has met him more than once. (He is/was also part of Nozomi). And there are lots of Arcade games.

The new museum will partially be sponsored by the city itself, mainly paying for rent building etc. The museum can at least proove itself for one year, after that .....

So, everybody who is in this dutch area (Zoetermeer is only a few clicks away from The Haque), must visit it.

Here are a few links to Dutch articles about it (please use Google translate):

We do our best to make it as good  as possible with a low budget.

OSM = Open Street Map Layer instead of Google Maps.

There's a new opening in Austria the next weeks. Lots of Jukeboxes, Pinballs and an Arcade area.
