says the guy who started collecting...when exactly?? ;)

collecting has become so damn easy since thomas is running his container business. not that i mind, because we would never have got all the games we have now and desired so much, BUT i somehow miss the thrill of the hunt - and roadtrips to unknown locations. it's a different arcade world now, but i'm happy to have been a part of the good old times  :P 8)
all i need is ... PONG - and a select few others: TOUCH ME, DRAGON'S LAIR, JOUST, ROBOTRON, MR DO, SAN FRANCISCO RUSH THE ROCK!!!

I totally agree, first everybody was totally hyped up when some cabinet was found, now we can get almost everything we want, simply look in the US, pay and it will be shipped.

i am not saying that thomas is doing a bad job, absolutely not.

but i totally know the feeling you describe Ully

I can imagine the thrill, must have been very exciting. And the pricing was way better too I guess.

Personally, I'm really happy I was able to get a DK in my gameroom. That probably would've never happened by finding some hidden spot somewhere

the problem is that we ran out of secret spots... at least in europe. and since i am not that much into the universal and the japanese cabs... this is just an amazing way to collect and perserve arcade machines. i love the dedicateds and it gives me a thrill to see them in action.

personally i get a thrill with every cab that goes into my collection. there are still so many machines that i would love to own... and a few ones i would "kill" for, too. :)
Looking for Dragons Lair 1 or 2, Space Ace, Double Dragon, Robotron and yeah... a Shinobi would be cool, too!

I kinda agree with Ully !!!! (Wow, again !)

It is almost like mail-orderi g cabs now :)

I have nothing against it seriously, but I understand Ully's feelings. I also miss the part where people have to actually do something to get the cab nice, like woodwork or electronics fixing. Now it seems like people just pick the cherries that are in great condition and work 100%.

For me, that is missing out on at least half of the fun, and it is also the only way I can afford this hobby.

Again, nothing against it, it is just.....different. I don't think you will ever get an emotional bond with a machine without a sweet roadtrip story, hunting for parts and unexpectedly finding them and restoring wood or artwork. Yes, even if it takes me years.....it's the trip, not (just) the destination :)

Of course it's something different to actually "find" a cab, drive to the location, find other stuff there too, talking with the owner, drive home, open the cabinet, find weird stuff inside (we found a complete porn magazine-collection once). It's a matter of hunting and the unexpected.

I did that for quiet some time now and was always happy with my machines. There was a point where I realized that I will very likely never own a Tron or something special, but it was okay.

And of course it's also okay to have the awesome opportunity to own some special cabs from the US now. I mean, c'mon..!

Robotron, Smash TV, Final Fight, Donkey Kong, Red Tent, Indiana Jones, Galaga 88, Roadblasters SD, Centipede cabaret, Asteroids cabaret, Phoenix cabaret, MVS-U4

i guess this is something that happened before I got interested in collecting cabs. i do understand that you guys miss this though I still find it hard enough to get what I would like to have. Of course it is easier now due to the work that Thomas does... but without this it would be virtually impossible to get a dedicated cab for a decent price in Europe.

that operator is an a**hole (although he still has my dream jukebox). i'm talking about locations that haven't been found yet and i'm certain they are out there somewhere! like that abandoned pizzaria i discovered 1 1/2 years ago. or the "arcade hotel" or the duke of lancaster or andre's belgium warehouse or ... we just have to find places like that!

A shame the Mappy was already sold :(

Well the buyer of DK and Mappy just backed out of the deal so both of these are now available.  Please coordinate through Ully if interested.

Didn't expect to see it available again! I've sent Ully a message now  :)

got it, but the problem is that thomas' buddy can only pick up 5 games at once and we have already reached that limit! Don't know what to do ...

hey, just because our van is full doesn't mean that Thomas' guy can't return and pick up the Mappy! Why not get in touch with Thomas and Spyridon and figure things out? If you really want it, there's always a way!!!
