Postage....

I don't know if this is the right forum to post this, but here it goes:

I won 2 pcb's not long ago, each pcb had £20 in postage...
Received a packet yesterday with both pcb's, and the postage was....: £9.76
normally i dont care if the postage is of by £3-6, but £30!!!!

What do you think, what i your policy when it comes to making extra money om postage?

I think you are right. Postage is not just the cost of the "stamps" but also the box, bubble-wrap etc. but that should only add a couple of dollars IMHO.

This is just a screwed up way to earn more on the boards. Did you win them through e-bay ? Shouldn't it indicate the shipping before you bid on it ?

By the way I've found shipping within Europe is a lot less expensive than from the US, which is logical of course but the difference is pretty big.

I won them through ebay, and they had £20 in shipping (both of them)
But where i get angry is that he was able to ship both in the same box for under £10! - and lets say £5 for packing materials, thats still £25 i payed to much!!!!!!

what i would do is ask the seller for a refund, if he doesn't reply or tells you to get lost leave a negative feedback. i h-a-t-e people who are trying to earn some serious extra money through ridiculous p&p prices!

Usually on Ebay if the shipping cost is declared in advance in the listing then I bid based on the total price including shipping. It's really not relevant how much is bid and how much is shipping - it's all just the price for the item. Items with high shipping usually sell for less.

Don't take it too seriously - the seller is simply avoiding ebay fees. Enjoy your PCB's

It's wrong, yes - but leaving negative feedback for something that was stated before the purcase was made would be wrong.

One could contact the seller and negotiate a more reasonable shipping price before the auction ends. If that's not possible, I just pass on bidding on such auctions.

I agree. Postage costs were stated upfront. I also always take the postage costs into my bidding price (everybody does I guess), so I end up paying what I think it's worth.

I think if postage is listed on the auction this is what it costs,ie packing material,time etc.
However last month i won a item and postage was listed as £14.00
however when it arrived it was just stuffed in a empty box,no packing/bubble wrap and it only cost £3.20.
the box was all battered and squashed,so i was annoyed and asked the seller for a postage refund,he just fobbed me off for a few weeks,then i made a paypal claim.I then got my money back.I think that was out of order,if he had made some attempt to protect the parcel id have been happy.
