Next step....how to cross the channel..... build a raft and give it a push towards the east ? ;)

I _MIGHT_ be able to arrange a van but it's not as big as Andy's.....

And indeed thanks to all involved for making this possible at all !

IF .....  could ......  But when would that be?  How long would we have to wait? I mean, you didn't have the money for the monitors until mid november or so, according to your post from 10 september:

if this were to take 2 months longer, i could be in again ... ;) why not postpone it?

Does this not count for cabs? Ully, don't get me wrong, but you choose not to be part of the monitor deal anymore, so stop interfering.

Besides, hatster already mentioned that a mate of his could bring it to the mainland for roughly € 300 - € 400, which would mean  € 10 - € 14 per monitor (28 monitors). Not expensive in my book. How much cheaper can it get?  :)

yeah, I know.  ;D  It's perhaps a bit direct, but it's also clear what I mean. I don't like it when there could be some vagueness about my message.

I think that you are a nice guy, but personally I feel a bit frustrated about the way you act in this deal. First the 'issue' with the transport costs. Then you getting out of this deal in a late stadium because you 'suddenly' realized that you didn't have the money, which can happen of course. Then you try to postpone the deal with another few months so you might join again (although we knew that the seller already started to sell some monitors. And we are also not sure that you will join then (You are now talking about buying cabs from Rav, would you spend money on monitors now? )). And finally you want us to wait until you decide IF you will get another cab, or more, and when you pay those to ship them with the monitors, in order to save you some money.

You use the words IF (in capital), which in my book means that you are not even sure about it. Should we wait for that? Don't think so. But perhaps the others disagree with me and I shouldn't be so upset.

Personally I feel that we can't save much more money on the transport of the monitors. It's already pretty low as I said above above.

hey erik, are you the new sheriff in town or what?

pointing out that this or that hasn't been done yet, telling other persons what to do and where to step back, ...

one of the main reasons i dropped out of the monitor deal was the fact that you brought up that stupid "divide costs by number of monitors thing and not by the number of people involved" which made me lose out on the free monitors. just out of curiosity: why didn't andré split up the shipping costs for the phoenix arcade stuff according to the number of items or the weight of stuff? why did he split it up according to the number of persons involved? there are people who only ordered one item while others have ordered tons of stuff, however in the end everyone is paying the same share of shipping costs ... ?!? i'm sorry, but i think you are way to anal when it comes to money. it should be more about making other people happy than about how to save a buck or two!

believe me, i have many more reasons why i dropped out of the deal and why i'd rather spend my money on cabs atm than on monitors, but i don't want to go into details, otherwise the sheriff would probably arrest me!

i have to be careful, because

sorry for interfering with your thread! believe me, it won't happen again ...

And all the people who took the time to respond to my 'proposal' agreed with me. ??? And what have the free monitors to do with it?

Anyway, enough said, I guess. Let's move on and happy gaming!  :)

Sorry, but I don't like being dragged into this mud-fight like this.

First of all I clearly explained in PM WHY I did the sharing, but since this is out in the open here now, I will explain once more.
I deducted the amount of rebate we get from the total shipping costs. Now let's use our brains for a moment...The people who ordered for the most amount of money (weight is less of an issue, if at all here) are probably mostly entitled to their "share" of that rebate because the more paid, the higher the rebate. This way, the guys who paid the most already contribute the most in the virtual shipping costs.

In the end the total shipping costs was $66,50 and the rebate $40. Leaving a total of $26,50 for shipping. Divided by 5 people, the shipping costs is exactly $5,30 which converted means about €3,90. I'm sorry but you can't compare €3,90 to the amount needed to pay for shipping the monitors.

Besides that, we already discussed the shipping of the monitors and sorry but you were the only one who thought about it this way Ully and you opted to step out of the deal, which of course is your good right.

I'm not going to run in circles and start up that discussion again, but I still cannot see why someone who would order 10 monitors would have to pay the same amount as someone who would order 1. I know you keep comparing it with stuff like the artwork deal, but weight is only a very tiny factor in that deal PLUS I do not know the weight of all the various stuff and calculating or estimating is not worth my time compared to a couple of freaking Euro's per person !.......Comparing the monitor deal with the artwork group-buyy is comparing apples and pears....

BUT I would like it if we could call it peace here, this is a rather pointles debate. Ully probably offered the shared transport option in good will but I also understand Erik's view because you decided to get out of the deal and it felt like you were trying to get on board again.

Anyway I feel this discussion is rather destructive and pointless. Let's move on to getting the monitors from Rav to Calais where they can be picked up by Krousti....

P.S. : This (The Phoenix artwork) is the last group-buy I organized. All the hassle and shit around it is not worth it IMHO. I'd rather pay 25 bucks shipping cost just for my items than having to go through all this.....DAMN !

hey guys,

ok i just spoke to my "man with a van" friend.  He says he is in UK in the first week in November, and can pick up from Rav then, and deliver to calais, or possibly to wherever (for extra cost of course) - any suggestions ?  the cost will be 400e or less to calais (I would say 400 then we know where we are) so divided by 28 monitors? would be around 14,30 per monitor.

I dont need to confirm with him for another few days whether I want it doing or not. what do you guys think ?

Cheers,

Kev.

I think that's a good price which would be hard to beat when renting a van and crossing the channel 2 times....
If Krousti can pick it up in Calais, that would be excellent IMHO.

Yes it's fine :)

When do you think to go to pick-up them ? Maybe I could come to take my monitors directly to Calais....

Well...I'm considering driving up to Calais as well.... I can do it, but preferably in the weekend and I assume that Hatster's "man with a van" is doing his job on working days ?
