Magic Sponge (Magic Eraser)
« on: July 03, 2010, 02:46:14 PM »
Through KLOV forum I read about the "Magic Eraser", a product from Procter & Gamble that turns out to simply be a piece of melamine as produced by BASF.

There was also a link to a Korean e-bay seller offering these "same" sponges for quite a good price (about 13 euro for 60 pieces INCLUDING shipping).

I ordered a box and they arrived very quickly.

Since I didn't want to risk any of my precious machines, I tried some of them on Erik's Gravitar which happened to be the closest machine around  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Seriously, there is no (or VERY little) risk with these things, collectors have been using them a lot from what I read....

Well here are the results:

Great results, used for example in my Time Pilot Restoration:arrow:

But maybe your "Magic Eraser" is more powerful? It worth the test for sure (My Gyruss CPO is not totally clean with my magic sponge) Let us know  ;)

Yeah, those are amazing, but you have to be careful, it can take off the colour on printed sideart etc. Vinyl CPOs are often printed from behind so no danger there.

@Bruno: your's are the original !

Mr.Propre is a Procter & Gamble brand and look how the Magic Eraser packing looks:

(I love the Flemish translation of "Wondergom", that's a pretty 100% direct translation from Magic Eraser that actually works out very good, but I doubt it would be called like that in The Netherlands.)

Mine is called "Magic Sponge" and there's a lot of Korean writing on the logo.

How long do the originals last Bruno ?

@Laschek, you are right, since it's basically ultra fine sanding you have to try it out on a not-visible spot first.

Actually it was this one:

10 more for almost the same price :)

(Hey I just re-read the ad and it says "Made in Germany" so this well may be the original stuff from BASF)

Got a package today...

What can it be... I'm waiting for so many stuffs (like many of us I presume  :P)... the box is extra light...no weight at all!
I'm sure it's the couple of RAM + SOCKETS I'm waiting since few weeks  8)
I'm opening the box... white 'sponge' protection everywhere? Hey? Where is the merchandise here? I only see these white sponge  ???

...wait a sec! .... wait a sec! Holy smoke... I had forgotten this command  ::) The famous 'Magic Sponge'  ;D

I'll test that and let you know of course  ;)

it's there to clip on the sponges if your hands are too big for those tiny pieces of foam!

all i need is ... PONG - and a select few others: TOUCH ME, DRAGON'S LAIR, JOUST, ROBOTRON, MR DO, SAN FRANCISCO RUSH THE ROCK!!!
