My greatest find is also my first cab: Donkey Kong

Centipide and Vanguard are two other special cabs for me which I got in 2009. And I already know that 2010 will start very nice  ???

my greatest find in 2009 must have been the extremely rare wizard of wor. here's a pic of it in unrestored condition. it now looks even better (i'd say almost mint), but there are two or three things which still need fixing) before it is allowed into the gameroom.

all i need is ... PONG - and a select few others: TOUCH ME, DRAGON'S LAIR, JOUST, ROBOTRON, MR DO, SAN FRANCISCO RUSH THE ROCK!!!

That's probably too obvious:

But a good second is the Asterock:

But the most important find of 2009 for me are a hoist of new arcade-friends from across Europe !

-wood is in very good condition because it was in his personnal garage (no water damage, no humidity)
-Control panel has additionals holes, a guy in the usa has send it one complete to me but it never arrive in france :?
-The bezel and the illustration back are in very good condition, the pastic too. But the side art and the artworks stick on the wood has to be change.
-The black color of the side art is good, I don't want to paint it.
-Monitor work but there is some color problem, (sometimes blue desapear)
-coin door is not the original one.

Hmm I don't think,

If you see closely

1) side art (+150) and most of all the inner art (+45) and Shroud Art ( +50) are extremely damaged so must be replaced

(Total 300 including shipping and taxes)

http://www.phoenixarcade.com/art.htm#tron

2) most of all he 'll have to buy a tron cpo (since the one inside is a jamma joystick?!)

in USA (+ 200) + cpo vynil to replace (+50) + new repro joystick (+100) + new spinner decal (+50)

+ shipping (Total =450~500 with shipping and taxes)

http://www.phoenixarcade.com/art.htm#tron

http://www.quarterarcade.com/Game.aspx/9310
and hope this time will arrive or use UPS for shipping (+200)

3) plus the original Tron motherboard (+250) + all original cables (+100)

the game as most know is not a jamma but a dedicated cab so dedicated cables

+ shipping (Total= 400~500 with shipping and taxes)

4) Fix the monitor with a cap kit (130 including shipping + 50 technician who do it physically - tubes are dangerous)

5) the time it will require to do the whole work + install the whole kits + pray the MCR doesn't betray you with the purple wire otherwise you'll have throw the Mb and power supply and buy them new again!

To Restore in mint condition the game it will take around 1500~2000 euros in total,

the same price if you look for a restored machine

I wouldnt' say jean has steal it

It is a tricky cab, not to deal with if not aware of its componets (really unusual as the dual stereo board or the MCR)

I appreciate your optimistic view,

but in this case if you have never dealt with it

I started with your same attitude and took me for costs, waiting and fixing process around 2 years before seeing the game back to life

I would say realistic

it is the precise word in this case dealing with a tron cab

Mav

Ps= Consider also that I 've not included the midway coin door missing in the total..

Hope to have given a precise idea of means to have this baby back in mint condition as you asked in the previous post

wow! - do you have anymore pics of it?, what need´s to be done to get it in OK/mint condition?

I can fully understand what you´re saying, but isen´t that why we are in this "hobby", to fix things, even if it takes time (and money)??
I know some game parts are more expensive than others, but it´s not every day you come across a Mint TRON in europe...
And, not all need´s a cab in MINT condition, i sure don´t, and i think it´s nice to have a cab, where you can see it´s old (not saying that i won´t restore anything)

Robotron restoration has sarted but tron not, I'm afraid of the big stickers I have to stick

Wow... 30€ is an awesome price...for a TRON cab' !  ...and I've seen your cab personally  ;)

Sure, a lot of work... but you can take you time... no you don't have to look for a Tron anymore... because you have one!
Because money is the *bad* side of arcade collecting... but the restoration is the *better* side of it! It's not a matter of buying or collecting things here (like stamps for example)... but it's also a matter of ...work... learn... and fun  8)
Woow... what's better in life than buying a Tron cab' for 30€  :-*
Now you'll spend some money for parts, sure... but ... no pressure... do according your time and money...it's a part of the magic  ;)

...and like I said when we met few months ago : you've got a Tron man... A TRON!!!  :P :-*
