Hello World ... here comes the caveman
« on: September 09, 2010, 05:47:11 PM »
Hello everybody!

I would like to introduce myself to the wonderful people of the Dragons Lair Fan Forum. I'm following you guys for quite a while here. Some of you might know me from the other (mainly german) forums as I know some of you from the meeting at Luigis and Kriks place last year or other strangs occasions (like buying an After Burner Upright ;)).

I did a lot of different things in the past, like restoring cabs, converting old german universals to shiny little gems, building high end arcade sticks together with my friend bencao74... right now I'm on a Atari Video Pinball who needs a good amount of work right now and I try to get my Pinbot pinball working again. Besides all of that I recently put all my cabs in the basement ... The Cave ... to get rid of the complaints of Mrs Caveman who claimed the living room back for living  ::)

Ok ... I think thats it for now ... some pics of course, because everybody loves pics, right? ;) Looking forward to get it on here ...

cheers, prc

Video Pinball owners are always welcome here ;)

So: Welcome Captain Caveman ! ;)

You can't upload pics, but you can link to them. So you have to store them somewhere else (like me.com or flickr)

Hehe ... hi guys ... after all, it's always the same people who show up, right ;) My VP is still nor working. I (almost) fixed the pcb. Laschek was so kind to borrow me his one for tests (it's almost on the way back, buddy) but the bigger problem is the monitor. I saw another thread where the b/w monitor supplement problematic was discussed. I think I'm in there, too. I managed to get the pcb running on a regular tv though! That was a piece of cake since that one uses composite video output.

cheers, prc

Hello PunkRockCaveman (where this nickname is coming from by the way?)

Hey, a Pole Position II... working? Nice collection, thanks for the pictures  :)
Yes, you can upload pictures on this board/server. Just go to 'Additional Options', but the limit is 4 pictures per post and the sum of the pictures can be greater than 500KB  ;)

Enjoy the place  :)

Hi Nuno!

Yes, the PP is working (knock on wood). I had to fix it just once, so at the moment I'm lucky enough to enjoy the game! The PunkRockCaveman comes from this song:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VDmn5Vz97qQ

Before that I was only known as "The Caveman" because of my excessive chesthair ;D but thats another story. The Upload Function seems to be disabled for my account ... can't find anything under "Additional Options". Never mind ... I will get a flicker account in the future.

cheers, prc

Good tip ! I've still got a ....o-my-god-do-I-dare-say-it C-C-Com-Commodore 1702 monitor that I use with my Atari 8 bit machines. Although it's useless for regular arcade testing (it has no RGB inputs, I use a 1024 for that stuff) this one has composite video too. Will be great for testing !

Although there's a Commodore brand on these monitors, in fact they were of course no Commodore products. The 1702 is a Toshiba and most 1024's are Philips (yes, an excellent Dutch product ! Where are those days !!?!?!?!?)

So...that's my excuse for actually owning some Commodore stuff. Yes....and that in the house of Atari..... ;)

But I'm drifting off.....welcome here ! ( O oops I already said that ;) )

Yep! I got a Philips CM 8833 Amiga Monitor on my testbench since it's small, takes rgb and composite and is not picky when it comes to syncing little off frequencies that some pcbs provide ;)

cheers, prc

PS: Yeah I think we should post that in the b/w Monitorss thread ... maybe there will be a raid on ebay for thode old monitors then ... the 23" size of the VP screen brings me a headache though ... maybe I find a 24" with service menu that provides functions for sizing the picture ;)

Welcome Caveman!
Hey Ully, check the blue of that Centipede bezel, it looks like it doesn't match 100% the blue from the CP, or is it?  ;D ;) ;D

actually, caveman jörg is the one who edited the centipede file and passed that color sheet on to me because the task of color adjusting was too difficult ;)

@jörg: didn't we want to compare our closest matches?
