I read that many times here the people use TV's with the famous scart connection.

DarthNuno is the "SCARTMASTER" (https://www.dragonslairfans.com/smfor/index.php?topic=429.msg4034#msg4034)  as far as i know  8)

another example (https://www.dragonslairfans.com/smfor/index.php?topic=202.msg1097#msg1097)

But i'm sure he can tell you all about it

for the 20" you need a 51 cm. tube and for the 19" a 48 cm. tube if i am correct.

 ;D

I used to buy *brand* new 50 or 51 cm TV in shops like Auchan (France) or Carrefour/CORA (Belgium) close to my house, but it's now impossible since few months  :-[ Fortunately for me, I've enough TV in stock now ::) :P
But I'm also very close to a second hand shop, and they ALWAYS have CRT TV between 48 and 51cm ... but you can easily find them in your local ads, or on ebay  ;) But be quick... it'll be soon or later difficult to find them...

Etienne is right... Scart connector is an awesome option we have in Europe to have a perfect RGB picture  :-*

Soon or later, you'll say : "I LOVE RGB... I LOVE RGB via SCART"  ;D ;D ;D Try it and you'll see... Easy, Cheap & Efficient  :-* 8)

If you _really_ want a monitor:
http://www.grebo.eu/arcadegames/shop/index_eng.htm

or else from the US:

www.arcadeshop.com has recently re-stocked the Visio Pro 19" monitors.

But the TV with SCART is a very economic option. Try to get a TV with a digital set-up though.

Great ! Not even too expensive IMHO. The anal part of me says the straight angled corners are not "old school" enough but hey, we have little to choose !

I think they're also "around the corner" from you ;)

not expensive at all! - i used to buy old geneic cabinets (JK kabinetter, danish arcade/slotmachine company) and strip them for all, and sell the enpty cab to someone who would convert it to (http://home19.inet.tele.dk/tld-data/spil/mame.gif)
and even better, these are new, you never know what you get the other way, and they live in my back yeard! - almost :D

Yeah, if I had the money, I'd buy a pallet of those things and be done with it all.....

How much will the shipping be to you ? I assume it's the same price across Europe. I think Japandeal is in Sweden. I also read somewhere that they were selling all their stock and than quit with the business.....let's hope that's not true.

AFAIK they are the only supplier of real arcade monitors in Europe (at least at fair prices).

well... recieved the confirmation mail today:

Hi there!

We can not ship our CRTs - only for pickup.

Shall we cancel the order or will you pickup?

Best regards / Fred (JD webshop)

 :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

Im going to ask if it´s possible for me to buy 2 or 4 or 8 monitors, and instead of the factory thay purchase them of ships them to them, they ship the pallet to me instead... i keep you updated...

Jeeez....would be very clever if they would put that up on their site !.....

It's pretty clear what they write:

Note! Prices for CRT (fat monitors) calculated WITHOUT FREIGHT - free freight does not apply to that type of monitors!!
(Contact us for questions around this, and for freight quote to your location)

That doesn't sound like "we don't ship them".....

Good luck !

PS, there are shipping companies that can pick up at a location, but I have no idea about costs etc.

Would be very cool if you could find the source of these monitors.... ;)

i wrote this mail to them:

Hello Fred.
Is it possible that i for example buy 4 or 8 monitors, and the factory ships them directly to me, instead of you?
or will it become to complicated?

hmmm. hehe, heres the mail i recieved today...

Hehe. If you take 1 container - they can ship directly to you. No less. :-)

So... you have to stick with me, if its "a few" (for them)...

Best regards / Fred

i dont have the guts to ask how many monitors there is in a container...

What does he mean with "stick with me" if he doesn't want to ship them ? I don't understand really, a monitor box is well constructed and will survive shipping.

About the number of monitors in one container..........it depends if it's a 20' or a 40' container ;) ;) ;)

I worked for a Taiwanese (computer) monitor manufacturer for one year. Regular sizes then were 14" and 15". We ordered by the container but although I'm hurting my brain, I can't remember how many would fit in a 20'

I think it was a couple of hundred for the 14 and 15"es.....

We also had 19" but those were very rarely sold....

600 Km......    so it's not really "around the corner"  :-\

Title: Re: Monitor´s

no, and even worse, if you do the slightest speeding on their higways, it´s buy buy driver licence!..
Title: Re: Monitor´s
Post by: level42 on August 21, 2009, 07:56:54 AM
But man, would we have nice roadtrip pics ! ;)

And I've done "worse"......

Over 750 km's to pick up the Missile Command cabaret..... (and I'm not counting the extra 120 km's to visit "Speleo" (Andreas from www.andysarcade.de). We made a great long weekend of it with the family and visited Munchen "in between".
Probably the roadtrip with the most arcade unrelated pictures. I never published them because they are more a "family trip" series than a "roadtrip" series.

If I had the finance for, let's say, 10 of these monitors, I'd probably do it. What exactly is the reason why Fred doesn't ship them ? Bad experiences with sending them ? Or simply too expensive ?

I don't know why he wont ship them, maby it's to expensive? how heavy can they be?

I just looked at fedex for you ,

assuming a package from linkoping-sweden to copenhagen-denmark with size 50x50x50 cm at 20 KG will cost like 215€

so the shipping is the same cost as the monitor if you go with fedex  :-\

I would suggest to make a nice roadtrip  ;D

+1  ;)

Maybe there are some nice places to visit around the seller's location? You can combine this trip with a nice visit of something?

...so "ArcadeLifeStyle" it would be...  ::) ;D ;D ;D

Man, for that cost it should be possible to transport a complete pallet from Sweden to Denmark. Fedex and the like are usually not the companies to go with for this kind of traffic.

i agree, when i got my ROTJ from england i used Blue Warter, it came to arround 180€ - and that was a big!
so i would imagine it would be less..

Yep, that's what I meant. Pretty good price IMHO.

Did they ship the ROTJ on a pallet ?

Wow...180€!  it's almost less expensive than doing a 'UK Road Trip' (tm)  ... and specially for a cockpit, that requires a trailer or a van...

Yeah. In fact, renting the tail-gate lift van plus gas to pick up my SW cockpit was almost the same amount and I only had to pick it up in Amsterdam, which is only about an hour drive from my home.....

Good deal. Packing could have used an extra layer or two.....but it looks like it came across just fine.

What shipping company is that ? Do you have a link ?

Title: Re: Monitor´s

the shipping company is Blue Warter.
i don´t have a link, and i did´nt set up the deal, my brother did and got it shipped trough the company he works for, because they use them quite often, så they have a discount of some sort...

Just found this (crappy) site on KLOV:

http://www.pentusa.com/default.php

GREAT monitor prices IMHO, esp. with current euro-dollar rate. No clue what brand etc.
The site is crap but the guy who linked it had good experiences with them.
