Hello guys,
today I have something not arcade-related.
In the attachment you see a PCB of a machine that is appears like an EM-game but got a PCB in it.
When we powered it on it did absolutely nothing.
I checked the PCB and saw what you see in the picture, could that be a suicide-battery?
Funny thing is also that, no matter if you turn the power switch on of or off, it makes no difference.
We can here the hum of the transformer but nothing else happens.

Well suicide or not, it sure did kill itself.......and probably a part of the board too....
-
It is not a suicide-battery for a code
I think it is a memory backup battery
-
Remove it ASAP and neutralize the base residue with some household vinegar.
-
As already discussed, I'm pretty sure the battery was used for keeping scores and settings once the game was powered off.
"Suicide Batteries" were usually used on games with encrypted rom sets, to fight bootleggers. Games with specific hardware (like "Alle Neune") had some sort of natural protection anyway (i.e. the specific hardware ;)), so no need for this type of batteries here.

only if you eat it. ;)

WTF?! This looks like an electronic version of the NSM Alle Neune Bowling, which works completely mechanically, power is only needed for the illumination:

...yes, funny right?
And it looks totally vintage, I was shocked to find a PCB inside...
