I picked up a Super Breakout that is working but has some monitor issues. I think it's an XM-501 monitor.
Issues are:
#1 - The screen has a wave to it. It's a moving wave across the screen. I hear it might be the B+ that is adjusted too high on this particular monitor. Previous owner could not adjust it down from 86V. Heard it could be the big silver cap on the monitor. Monitor has already been capped.
#2 - The picture does not line-up with overlay. It just won't line-up at all. Picture is also a little too narrow.

Pretty cool game!

Hi John,
Cool to have you here :)
I have a working Super Breakout too (love it!!!) and I think I have the same problem #2 problem as you.
I'll check better this weekend and let you know if I can be of any help.

I have a voltage regulator that I am about to install. I hope it fixes the issue!

hi john. i'm glad another super breakout is coming back from the darkness :)
probably is not necessary to install a voltage regulator.
with years some calibrations have gone. if you recap the monitor and work on trimmers and coils you can align again the game with the overlays...
I sent A LOT of time on that monitor
regards,
Marco

The problem I am having is this:
#1 - The B+ voltage is high and will not adjust lower. The game also has a wave across it. I think this moving wave is B+ related?
#2 - I cannot adjust the screen to match the overlay.
The monitor has already been capped.
The monitor is a 19V1000 or 19v1001

Did you test all voltages on check points?
I don't know yout technical knowledge so I'm sorry if I'm saying something stupid for you.
If I were you first of all I'll check for instance points like these in the pictures till HV circuit

I haven't done anything to the monitor yet. I haven't worked on the game at all. I am not an electrical engineer by any means but I can usually figure stuff out. :) I'll check the voltages! THANKS!
This video (from the previous owner) shows the wave issue - it gets worse as the monitor warms up.:

To be honest i had asimilar problem with another game. After some damned days i understood waves came when the monitor frame touched the pcb metal box. So be sure the entire cab is well grounded first

Well, I did a little work on the game yesterday and I fixed the issue.
I tested the B+ and it was around 87V. It's supposed to be 75v. Adjusting the pot would not make it lower. So, I replaced the voltage regulator transistor and it's all fixed! :) That was easy.
Now I need help adjusting the picture. I can't get the picture down far enough to line-up with the blue line for the paddle. If I move it to far down the left side curls. What is the horizontal oscillator adjustment for? Is that horizontal width? I need to find a horizontal center adjustment (to the bring the picture down on the vertical monitor) and I don't see one.

wow great!
there are some coils that can be regulated. Use a plastic screw driver / allen or consider that the iron in the tool makes a contribute to the regulation. In any case be sure you can come back to the factory regulation
